The affects would continue to drive young people out of our state magnifying the problem. All this aside how about a Governor that promised not to raise taxes after increasing state budget by 800 million dollars. This is absolutely a money grab by a self centered inept governor trying to look good for her constituents and screw the rest of the people. |

Putting an additional tax on fuel for vehicles and heating is NOT going to make a difference. The only difference is the amount of tax that is collected, that would not help the citizens of will only line the pockets of the state government. Please use common sense Govenor Mills and DO sign up for this horrible Transportation and Climate Initiative. |

I'm sick of my money being wasted on things I'm told I need like gas to get to work. How about not taxing overtime pay so more of my money I can keep to spend on things like vacations, trips, clothes and haircuts. We live in a state that takes longer to get places. Travel is the only way I can make money. Tax my transportation and it will be harder for families to get food and supplies. Wake up governor and listen to the people. |

Families and retired folks are working hard to pay our bills as it is....we can't afford an electric car, gas is not taken for granted. We are very conservative in our use of gasoline and heating oil. We live a simple life and don't own any toys, no camp, no great expensive vacations. We love Maine especially the way it used to be. I support my family with this business. It is already difficult to maintain a business in Maine between high fuel costs, high taxes, high medical insurance costs, and more. As an independent truck driver, I cannot absorb the increase if fuel costs go up even more due to this initiative, nor can I get additional compensation from the company I contract with. By hauling recycled products, my company is already helping the environment. This initiative will put me out of business. It may sound good on the surface but please think it through. Think about the actual people who you will put out of business and leave the state. I am a taxpayer who needs relief, not an additional burden. |

Ever heard of taxation without representation? It was kinda what inspired those who founded this great country and there are a lot of Northeastern citizens who will rally against your efforts. You people need to drop these crazy ideas that will certainly cripple our economy. |

Also, my husband still works full time as a carpenter and travels up to 60 miles for work in other communities. He has to have a full size truck to carry all his tools. I understand that Governor Mills wants and pledged to reduce the carbon footprint in ME but I don’t think these efforts will help if others surrounding us or the federal government doesn’t fund or try to do it too. I feel that attacking her constituents directly is not good and attacking big business who can afford it should be targeted. It’s hard enough to live in ME and she will be forcing more residents to look for other places to live if more taxes and increases are imposed on us. |

You say you want to do good for our state, but all I have seen so far is you breaking the Mainers banks by charging them out the nose for things they can’t afford. Tell me again, how are you helping people? This is a sick use of the people’s money, and their ability to have money to use. It’s also very shameful in my mind. You have no right to do this to us. You have brought in tax payer paid abortions, physician assisted suicide. Now you want to do this... for shame. |
