I... read more As a resident and small business partner in Massachusetts, I am very concerned about the threats that climate change poses, especially since it will reach every level and facet of our society. I fully support the Transportation and Climate Initiative and hope our leaders will seriously consider and implement bold measures to transform the transportation sector. We need to show that our region and country can lead the way in reshaping our transportation from a highly polluting stain on our society to one that is innovative, accountable, clean, and healthy for its citizens.
As someone involved in local business, I would love to be able to transition my company’s fleet of vehicles to cleaner, sustainable options, but large scale transformation needs to take place so that these vehicles become mainstream and the infrastructure is there to support local communities and businesses to transition as well.
Thank you for your attention to this crucial issue. |

This is a critical step to improving transportation and addressing the climate crisis. biking and walking, more frequent and reliable public transportation, greater access to electric vehicles, and a more equitable system with cleaner transportation options for everyone in the region.
I demand the most comprehensive program possible: we need improved transportation options, we need polluters to pay their fair share for the damage they are causing, and we need to act now!

We have a large senior citizens who live on social security. It is not unusual for seniors to travel 10 or more miles for medical appointments. Many residents travel 15 or more miles for work,and 10 or more miles for groceries. Are you going to put citizens out of work? Are you going to put seniors who will not get medical care because they cannot afford gas? How is putting a high tax on gas really going to help the Climate Initiative? Let's use common sense, and do not punish the people of Maine with additional taxes. |

I care about reducing pollution from transportation, which is our largest source of global warming emissions (regionally and nationally, next to cattle farming) because it affects the health care/costs & well being of us all, children, adults, seniors, not to mention it's REALLY expensive to clean off soot from buildings to keep our cities presentable for tourism.
I kindly request that your state formally join the plan to reduce emissions.
The policy should have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
It is our duty as citizens of a free thinking democracy to work together for the good of citizens to move forward by planning ahead to protect future generations & our cities' economies by acting with forethought now.
Now is the time!
Thank you for hearing my words. Thank you for all you do in the name of the public good. Please make me proud again to be a citizen of the US by connecting with your heart, & asking yourselves, will this do good?

The current running times of SEPTA is not conducive to commuting to work, and the cost is exorbitant. I believe a fast, reliable, and AFFORDABLE railway system would be utilized by many people who share a car, don't own a car, or simply want an alternative to driving to work. As a PA suburban resident, even commuting to Philly costs more by train than driving and parking! Commuting within zones, a less than 10 minute trip, costs over $5 one way. If rail was conducive to commuting and my budget, I would get rid of my car and only take mass transit. As for biking, dedicated riders can be found biking the streets, but in general traffic is too heavy and visibility is too poor for me to consider actively riding my bike to commute. There is also a serious lack of bike racks and bike lanes; I believe more people would bike if it was publicly supported, encouraged, and made safer. |

To raise the tax on oil and gas would make a vert hard living situation that much harder.
My income is of course is already very tight budgeted. There are many seniors struggling
as it is. Perhaps you can find an alternative to raising the gas tax. |
