Additionally, transportation is a major source of demand for fossil... read more Dear TCI - Pollution from transportation is a major component in US carbon dioxide emissions, and PA is no different. Additionally, transportation is a major source of demand for fossil fuels. As a result, public transit investments made with TCI proceeds would both reduce carbon emissions and demand for fossil fuels, while simultaneously improving transportation options to residents of PA and the northeast US. Given the most recent data on climate science, and the likelihood of severe climate related consequences (including mass extinctions) if urgent action is not taken, aggressive reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is a critical, urgent need that easily will pay for itself in future benefits. The TCI will be most beneficial if it focuses clean energy investments in areas overburdened by pollution and where access to transportation choices is limited. With that in mine, I I writing in full support of a common-sense TCI policy to improve transportation options, reduce pollution, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while simultaneously reducing fossil fuel demand and providing clean energy alternatives. If only politicians that think they know best would stop medaling. It's not what's best for Maine. It's what's best for the people who have an agenda. We already live on low incomes, and transportation is a must if we are going to be able to continue to work. One of my sons drives an hour to work and back each day, and another one of my sons has to drive all over the state. I drive a lot in my line of work as well. Transportation costs are already a hardship. I can't imagine how we'll survive with such a high gas tax! Many of us are living from paycheck to paycheck as it is. Someone please stop her from causing such irreparable damage to the people of Maine. She is a monster.	-

Residents will be hit twice...who do you think will pay for increased charges from contractors, truckers, etc. who will be forced to increase their prices and pass on to consumers. Electric cars are not practical in Maine. These "initiatives" are going to cripple an already poor state. And that does not even account the new waste streams car batteries and solar panels create. The state is not all about what portland thinks.	-

We have to Drive to work. There is no public transportation available. This tax also increases home fuel cost, and transportation costs for necessary items that is then passed onto consumers. So this just isn’t a transportation for every day driving tax. This is a cost-of-living hike. Maine is already a fairly low emissions state. This tax will have do little to to make us “green” and more to do with providing more money to a democratic run state that already is not taking care of its Low income and aging population, but spending absorbent amounts of money on illegal immigrants. Stop shoving taxes down Mainers throat‘s. We’re already struggling and we can’t afford it.	-

Not only will it be counter productive for most Maine residents but it is unethical. Attempting to push an agenda through without a vote by calling it a “fee” instead of a tax is just plain wrong. The fact that Janet Mills cannot find enough money to cover her increased spending does not mean that she should be able to throw in “fees” where ever she would like. Rural Mainers who will be the ones most affected by this have enough financial barriers to supporting their families than this ridiculous plan.	-

It provides a means for enhancing infrastructure, streamlining regional transportation initiatives, and, most importantly, pushing for a low carbon future and fighting climate change. The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative has been hugely successful and this plan builds on that model. If we are to achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions, transportation will need to fall under a similar framework to power generation. With the accelerating advent of electric cars and vehicles, the cap imposed by this initiative will be less costly than anticipated. Further there are substantial public health benefits to reducing traffic, removing diesel and gasoline based trucks, and having distribution centers be less polluting. I want to submit my extremely vocal support for this initiative.	-
