Our government is for the people, not for special interests. The politicians should be treated like ordinary citizens. They should also have the same health care that is offered to non politicians. We are watching and listening ready to be informed of the devious ways government tries to sneak legislation through. God bless Howie Carr and Donald Trump! No more gas tax! Why don't you tax all the Western Union money being sent over to foreign countries by illegals working under the table if you want more money to squander? |

The TCI will create at least a $0.17 increase in the cost for both regular and diesel fuels. In a large state such as Maine, that is already the highest taxed state in the Union, adding another tax to our fuel will break some truck drivers and companies as well as send more of us toward the poverty line. This is a terrible idea. |

It’s also of critical importance that the investment component takes equity into account and serves underserved and low income communities most impacted. Lastly, it’s a great example of bipartisanship and getting things done across party lines- let’s do this! |

It always strikes me that in Europe the broad swath of the population feels comfortable taking the fast, clean, safe, and ubiquitous public transportation, whereas in third-world countries the public transportation is poor, filthy, slow, and often dangerous -- and the air is deeply polluted by the inefficient cars and trucks on the roads. The United States leans toward these latter conditions more than it does toward the former. Our roads are increasingly congested, our air is less safe to breathe, and we are contributing unconscionably to climate disaster. We need a complete overhaul of our transportation system and a public relations campaign to turn our citizens' minds toward using public transportation -- and toward that end, it needs to be fast, safe, reliable, and ubiquitous. |

We are in the midst of a climate crisis, and we need to do everything in our power to reduce emissions in a just way. I urge this plan to include equity at every stage of the process, by ensuring that clean investments are prioritized for communities who are traditionally left out and who face more of the burden from pollution. Corporations need to be held accountable, and the benefits need to be put towards marginalized people. Marginalized/frontline communities need to be consulted at every stage of the process and their voices uplifted. We desperately need to invest in public transportation and make it a better option than personal vehicles.
I am glad to learn that this is a bipartisan effort, and I look forward to following up with the progress of this plan. The Climate Crisis, and the crisis of income inequalities are emergencies, and we need to do something about it now.

Traffic congestion from millions of cars and trucks are polluting our lungs and planet more than ever before. But as we enter this new decade, we have an opportunity modernize how we get from point A to point B. We need an enforceable limit on transportation pollution and we need to invest in clean, modern mobility solutions across the region. The policy must have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and for those who don't have access. I hope that Virginia will formally join the plan to reduce emissions. Finally, I appreciate the bipartisan nature of this project, attempting to move us forward while the federal government keeps trying to take us backward.

It is my great hope that Vermont will join in this regional endeavor. Please consider equity in your decision making - prioritizing clean investments in the most polluted areas where citizens don't have easy access to cleaner transportation opportunities. In an age where the federal government is stripping away environmental protections and threatening our children's very future, I commend this bipartisan effort to do more to help clean up our air and fight climate change in an equitable way that helps ALL people. I appreciate your consideration. |

We cannot keep stalling when it comes to doing something about this great problem we are facing. Transportation is one of the leading causes of carbon pollution and we need the TCI to address this problem. I am grateful that I live in a state that is willing to do something about this great threat while the federal government is choosing to worsen the problem. I hope that Massachusetts, along with other states, joins this much-needed initiative. |
