2.) An increase of 35% or more in the minimum investment in overburdened and underserved communities.
3.) Additional substantive investments in active transportation including: clean-powered public transit, better sidewalks, and the bicycling infrastructure.
An appropriately designed regional policy for low-carbon transportation could save up to 1,100 lives annually in the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic states and allow the region to see as much as $11 billion in health benefits each year! |

Maine is already carbon neutral. Electric cars are not going to help this and they are not an effective year round mode of transportation esp on fridgid days. To tax facilities that sell or provide gas is unfairly and non-transparently taxing individuals that choose to continue with gas powered autos etc as a safer option of transportation |

The only thing it will do is increase costs for residents and small business people. It will increase the cost of gas there by increasing costs for everything from food, to trucking, to plowing, etc. This effects all areas of residents lives. There is no benefit other than trying to push green initiates on the Maine state residents; some that won’t even make sense. For example electric cars are not a truly viable option for Maine due to the long winter with extremely cold days that make electric cars some what unreliable. Plus Maine is already very green and pretty much carbon neutral due to our forests. This will only be fit other more develop states at the expense of Maine residents. |

The more we limit pollution from motor fuels, the faster we will meet our carbon emissions reduction goals, and the safer our future will be from the effects of the climate crisis. Massachusetts should join TCI to fund better transportation infrastructure, reduce traffic, and make my community a cleaner, safer place to live. |

He is also a State Dem Committee person. On our way to and from the meeting, he expresses his regret that we see so few electric or even hybrid vehicles on the road. We are both well aware of the damage the transportation sector is doing to the climate and wish we could count on more proactive movement in a direction that will slow climate change. In visiting California frequently to visit my 101 year old mother til she died, I felt guilty flying so much. But I witnessed in California an abundance of change in the transportation sector especially to more fuel effiicient modes of transpo including electric vehicles. I will continue to advocate for similar change in PA and support Governor Wolf and the governors of neighboring states who agree to move us in this direction--and fast. |

In a state like Maine, with vast stretches of rural areas with almost no transportation options other than private automobile, figuring out how to provide low-emission transportation and discourage the use of private cars should be of paramount importance. The benefits would go beyond slowing climate change catastrophe; Maine's older population needs the security of being able to get to appointments and to be socially active once individuals are no longer able to drive.
Whatever policies are put in place should strive to be equitable, prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
It is imperative that Maine formally join the plan to reduce emissions. How much of our storied coastline can we afford to have changed by rising waters and more frequent an intense storms?
I applaud the bipartisan nature of this project within our region. It is time to move forward! |

RGGI boasts reduced emissions as well as economic benefits for the regional participants. Transportation is the sector most in need of policy focus for emissions reductions, and we need every tool in our quiver to arrive at a zero-emissions future. The TCI is a necessary part of that progression. I strongly support the TCI as a citizen, an environmentalist, and as an economist. |

We are at a critical time in human history where we must take bold action to minimize our impact on the environment, especially in regards to the climate. I live in one of the worst counties for air quality in the country, Lancaster County, PA. This is a time when transportation, and certainly public transportation, needs a massive overhaul. I believe we must have more public transportation, but it must be clean. I have lived in places overseas when I studied abroad where public transportation made it unnecessary to own a car. That is not the case where I live now for where I need to travel. It is my great hope that we very quickly put policies into place that highly deter pollution, and we then pour our resources into areas like clean and green public transportation that will make an impact for the benefit of all. |

Disposal of renewable energy parts is of serious concern. Exploitation of children in mining for the use of rare earth minerals to satisfy technological uses such as in renewables like electric batteries is not a good thing. Windpower kills birds and insects by the thousands and tens of thousands. Solar arrays fry birds and insects. Then the costs of these exotic technologies has the most deleterious effect on the poor and most vulnerable of all nations. People who can't afford expensive solar panels on their houses, or that $30-40000 hybrid or electric vehicle. If people were really serious about the environment then we would be talking more about chemical pollution into the oceans, and people littering which still happens nonstop. We would also be talking about hydrogen power and nuclear power which have zero carbon emissions. Although as most scientists and people of relative intelligence will tell you carbon dioxide is necessary for plant and tree life to be sustained. To tax it into oblivion is pure suicide and harmful for all life as we know it on this planet. |
