Like the t,our roads and Bridges are in total disrepair despite millions going to mass highway annually. Now using the guise of climate change, new proposals are looking while most small companies are just starting to recover from the recession a decade ago. Please look elsewhere for funding to kill jobs and entrepreneurship in Massachusetts

My understanding of this agreement moves the Northeast States in that direction. There is no time to waste if we hope to stem the worst impacts of climate change. |

As an architect/planner I am well trained in understanding the real impact to local environments coastal, urban. Suburban and rural caused by bad land use planning and ignorance of climate change. I fully endorse this regional initiative and any similar measures considered to reduce carbon emissions. |

While New York has low per capita emissions of carbon dioxide compared with the rest of the US these emissions are still several fold too high and the largest component is from transportation mostly from cars and trucks. New York cannot adequately address climate change without fully addressing transportation. This is particularly true in the suburbs where I live where transportation is typically the number one source of emissions. A greenhouse gas inventory found that in my town of Mount Kisco about 40% of emissions are from the transportation sector. Suburbs have been essentially built for transportation by car and dealing with this must be a priority in any plan to reduce emissions. |

We have high rates of asthma in our State, which is almost certainly related to air quality, and diabetes, which may be related to particulate pollution. Given the vital importance of public transportation to each State in our region, to the region as a whole, and to our contribution to the rest of the nation, it is absolutely vital that air quality be a serious consideration when planning and implementing transportation plans. It is critical for our future that we develop and utilize available and developing technologies to have mass transit systems--municipal to interstate--that are less dependent on fossil fuels than the current ones. |

It is a guarantee that this will happen if Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and his Left Wing Democrat fellow travelers are permitted to enact this monstrosity. This has already happened in California.
This TCI Carbon Tax nonsense is a solution to a problem that does not exist. There is no man-made climate problem.
Alleged mankind caused Global Warming, Climate Change, Extreme Weather, or whatever the Moonbat Liberal Left is calling it these days is the biggest hoax being perpetrated since the first Ponzi Scheme. This is all just a great big excuse to ruin the economy of the United States by destroying just about every one of our industries (energy, automobile, steel, agriculture etc . . .), and to redistribute income from those who have earned it to those who have not.
There is no proof, fake computer modeling aside, that we as a nation have done anything to impact global temperature, or that we could do anything in the future that could significantly change global climate.
We have had hurricanes, tornadoes, worldwide cooling and worldwide warming since the beginning of time, and we will continue to have them until the end of time. Nothing that we as a people can cumulatively do, or refrain from doing, will change this reality even a little bit.
The sole result of the TCI Carbon Tax will be to impoverish the working people of Massachusetts. Enactment of the TCI Carbon Tax will have no environmental impact whatsoever. The money collected from Massachusetts taxpayers from the TCI Carbon Tax may as well be flushed down the toilet.

This is a terrible approach to taxation as it is disproportionately levied on low income people, who often have to drive distances to work multiple jobs, and young families who have children that need to be driven to doctors or other service providers. On the contrary, people who live in high income housing in the cities near their employment, medical and other providers are barely affected. Lastly TCI policies may add additional taxes without legislative approval which would be unconstitutional as it is a form of taxation without representation. |

We need to invest in development that is transportation-centric, and stop investing in a sprawling, unsustainable development model. Future development in the state must be in cities, town centers, and near transit stations. We need more density of development, but with safeguards against the gentrification-driven price increases that drive lower income families further away from access to transportation. And the plan needs to deal wit the "last mile", it needs to get people from home to jobs without two hours worth of multiple poorly connected modes of transportation.
