we are last place in the country to run a small business . this is another nail in the coffin of all business . we have the highest electric cost . we have some of the highest property taxes , as well as car taxes . have you taken the time to notice that no new companies are coming to ri . have you notice that we are about to lose a house rep because so many people are leaving ri . 10 1/2 billion budget for a state this small ? our governor has nothing to loose . she will be gone not soon enough and we will be left we the damage she has done to our great state . as a business owner I am opposed to this tax because nothing is made in ri and every thing has to be brought into ri from out of state . add this tax as well as the truck and car road tax and the end result is that business looses again . how many more business have to go belly up or leave ri before our legislators understand that you are taxing us out of existence.

No new taxes. No gas taxes, no use taxes, no transportation taxes. No new tolls. No new taxes, period!

The 65 acres of trees cut down in North Smithfield will allow solar panels that generate 12.4MW of electricity.
The now abandoned 40 acre natural gas plant in Burrillville would have provided 900MW of electricity. The difference is that it would take 4,712 acres of forest to generate the same amount of electricity. This is green energy???

An increase in gas taxes will hurt middle-income Americans the most. Middle-income families make up roughly one-third of Americans. By increasing the gas tax, not only are you lessening the amount of money in their pockets, but the amount of money being pumped into the economy is being lessened too.In fact spending on side projects has increased 38% since 2008 while spending on core highway projects has remained flat. This solution would only support and encourage more wasteful spending. The transportation of goods is primarily done via highways. This will cost drivers more to fuel their way to deliver goods, meaning a higher cost on goods, which reduce the discretionary income of millions of Americans, and often correspond with diminished economic growth. In fact, analysts at Goldman Sachs predict “lower gas prices could add as much as half a percentage point to GDP growth this year.”

How many more taxes will baby killer Gina impose on us. Rhode Island has been Democratically run for decades and we are flat broke, infrastructure is falling apart, schools are failing, young adults are leaving because there are no jobs, and now we have EZ-Pass on our highways soon to be in our driveways, the way things are going.
This Transportation Climate Initiative is just another unwanted tax that will do nothing more than fill the pockets of dirty politicians.
Exactly what initiative in regard to the climate is this tax supposed to fix? Where is the data that supports this initiative? What is the end result of this fix? What is the time line to fix this problem? Is it before or after we are all suppose to die?

As a Rhode Island business owner and resident I completely disagree with this "tax" as a terrible added financial burden in one the worst business friendly states in the entire country. Additionally, I personally will join and and all organizations I feel will assist me in fighting passage of this burdensome tax.

Stop this foolishness. This is just another cash grab. RI can't manage any system- so why more. Fix existing systems first!!!!

Please help enact the regional Transportation and Climate Initiative!
