TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

Strongly support the regional cap and invest program. Revenues should support transit, biking and walking projects.

As a member of the Republican party, I strongly support the Transportation and Climate Initiative.

I have grandchildren, and I want them to live long, happy lives, where they don't have to worry about the status of our planet. I want them to have clean air to breathe and safe water to drink. Even though this program may raise gas prices, I think what we have to gain from doing so is more important than a few extra dollars spent.

I think this is a relatively conservative approach to climate change, and is a market based solution, which I appreciate as a conservative. I think that New York should join TCI, and that other states should consider joining as well.

Towns and cities friendly for micro mobility and pedestrian in 5 years

I am concerned that the cost of my fossil fuels for my car or home are set by dealers in nearby states. If I am in VT and it is NOT a member of the TCI team then I will NOT get some of that money back. We need to join and reap the benefits and not just the costs. The only way that northeast can survive is with a group effort. We need the benefit of balance.

New York needs more energy-efficient public transportation and fewer cars. Period.

I will soon be leaving Massachusetts where I’ve lived for 62 years. I can no longer abide by the wanton disregard that our corrupt politicians have for the people they are supposed to serve. this new “gas tax” is only the latest example of their disdain for working people. I pity those that don’t have the choice to leave or stay.

Transportation is the number one source of climate pollution in the United States. That means it's time to totally reimagine the way that we transport people and goods.

The states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and the city of Washington, D.C., are working on a groundbreaking policy to modernize the transportation sector under the Transportation and Climate Initiative.

In order for this regional plan to work, governors of these states and the mayor of Washington, D.C., must ensure that this transportation plan is bold enough to cut harmful transportation pollution at the scale needed to avert the climate crisis. We need a plan that holds large transportation polluters accountable for the pollution they create and invests in clean transportation solutions including:

More public transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas;
Expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets in the suburbs that are safe, walkable, and bikeable; and
Sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities.

We need to turn the tide to demonstrate how many people want to see a bold and ambitious plan to cut transportation pollution in their state and in the region.

We do NOT want or need this crap in Maine! We cannot afford any more tax hikes; winter is very hard on a lot of us. I drive sometimes over 200 miles a day, just to get to work and back. Tax hikes will make it much harder for me to pay my bills. No more left wing nonsense please!
