For those of us who must work, must commute and have a job that demands we have independent transportation this is an unavoidable reduction in pay in a state that is already nearly unaffordable to live in. We are held hostage by the government that is supposed to serve us, not punish us. By associating the environment in this bill it passed political correctness muster for the ruling party, but it is a shake down plain and simple. |

Yes I am all for lowering the use of fossil fuel fuel but not this way. Why should those who can't afford these electric vehicles be forced to pay higher gas prices. That is a stupid idea. Not everyone can afford these vehicles even with what is being offered. We should pay the gas price the way it is now. It's already quite expensive as it is. This needs to be scrapped and thought through again and not ar the expense of Mainers. |

The public already pay into a number of existing taxes, fees and tolls that were sold as a means of paying for infrastructure. Where those funds are short - the public and the public officials running their operations have a duty to address the concern through traditional appropriations means.
If this program is meant to address greenhouse gases, these revenues should be spent ONLY on programs which most directly concern the reduction of those emissions, their sequestration, or their offset.
I sincerely hope that a policy of ranked proposals is formalized and that expenditures are executed on a basis of maximizing GHG reductions with the funds raised therein.
Finally - please consider incentives to businesses and organizations which demonstrate carbon capture.
Thank you. |

I'm sick of my money being wasted on things I'm told I need like gas to get to work. How about not taxing overtime pay so more of my money I can keep to spend on things like vacations, trips, clothes and haircuts. We live in a state that takes longer to get places. Travel is the only way I can make money. Tax my transportation and it will be harder for families to get food and supplies. Wake up governor and listen to the people. |

In addition to protecting our planet for future generations, reducing pollution will better our air quality and therefore the health of residents. I commend the bipartisan effort to curb carbon emissions, and am hopeful that New York State adopts these stricter regulations. |

As I read more books and article on the subject, it appears to me that the issue of transportation is one of the major ones. And I am very glad to see that a bipartisan project is looking into the matter - while our President insist on taking us back, further and further.
New York state should not let this opportunity pass to be leading the charge against pollution. Neither should it leave anyone behind: climate justice is a central nerve of tackling any climate related issue. This policy should therefore have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. It would not be ethical to ignore some parts of the population, the poorest ones who are the least heard of and yet, the most impacted by pollution.
Let's have the courage to look towards a brighter future, one where we and our kids can breath clean air and leave in peace, certain that no climate disaster is at bay. |

It's critically important to reduce our carbon emissions to reduce climate change, of course. Research has repeatedly identified the many harmful effects of pollution on our health. The closer you are to high traffic areas, the worse the effect. Working to reduce and eventually eliminate pollution will leave us and the climate and ecosystems healthier, and reduce remediation costs in both the short and long term. We need to be working on increasing zero emissions power generation and vehicles as quickly as possible. There are many practical applications for electric vehicles in the public sector. The sooner and more aggressively we act, the better off we'll be. |

We can work together to do our part about climate change while the federal government denies and delays. We must reduce our transport emissions. I believe that improving public transport (trains and buses) is vital to save our planet.
A wonderful "side effect" of reducing private car emissions would be a wonderful public transport system. if you want to get people out of their cars we must have an extensive and reliable public transport system. I have wandered all over Europe on public transport and returned to the US saddened by the limited shoddy state of ours. Please Massachusetts (my state) join in this important initiative! |
