I feel that this is so unfair. Yes I am all for lowering the use of fossil fuel fuel but not this way. Why should those who can't afford these electric vehicles be forced to pay higher gas prices. That is a stupid idea. Not everyone can afford these vehicles even with what is being offered. We should pay the gas price the way it is now. It's already quite expensive as it is. This needs to be scrapped and thought through again and not ar the expense of Mainers.

This tax is a fraud. It is simply feel good legislation that imposes additional taxes without any benefits. Our politicians can only think in terms of taxes and power. I already pay enough to register vehicles in the State of Maine. I don't need to pay even more in gas taxes for no reason other than to get more of our money.

We all must face the future and the inevitable changes coming with Climate Change/Global Warming. One area is transportation. Public transport must be made available, must be user friendly, must be affordable.

This is a gas tax plain and simple. I drive 100 miles roundtrip to work and it would be a massive increase. I am a Republican because I believe in the constitution. This is unconstitutional. You plan on putting this through without a vote. I expect more from Republican state government. I’m not happy with an administration who keeps imposing their will on their will on voters

You people are a f*ing disgrace and saddling people that work for a living with this tax is a joke. If I ran my business the way you f*ing knit wits run this state I would get fired. Everyone of you should be voted out of office for laziness and stupidity.

I'm not at all into politics but this type of leadership is starting to hurt my bottom line. Another tax, another way for someone else to get rich quick. I'm sick of my money being wasted on things I'm told I need like gas to get to work. How about not taxing overtime pay so more of my money I can keep to spend on things like vacations, trips, clothes and haircuts. We live in a state that takes longer to get places. Travel is the only way I can make money. Tax my transportation and it will be harder for families to get food and supplies. Wake up governor and listen to the people.

I am watching, with increasing worry, our world go up in smoke - quite literally recently. As I read more books and article on the subject, it appears to me that the issue of transportation is one of the major ones. And I am very glad to see that a bipartisan project is looking into the matter - while our President insist on taking us back, further and further.
New York state should not let this opportunity pass to be leading the charge against pollution. Neither should it leave anyone behind: climate justice is a central nerve of tackling any climate related issue. This policy should therefore have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. It would not be ethical to ignore some parts of the population, the poorest ones who are the least heard of and yet, the most impacted by pollution.
Let's have the courage to look towards a brighter future, one where we and our kids can breath clean air and leave in peace, certain that no climate disaster is at bay.

I support the Transportation and Climate Initiative for many reasons. It's critically important to reduce our carbon emissions to reduce climate change, of course. Research has repeatedly identified the many harmful effects of pollution on our health. The closer you are to high traffic areas, the worse the effect. Working to reduce and eventually eliminate pollution will leave us and the climate and ecosystems healthier, and reduce remediation costs in both the short and long term. We need to be working on increasing zero emissions power generation and vehicles as quickly as possible. There are many practical applications for electric vehicles in the public sector. The sooner and more aggressively we act, the better off we'll be.

I am from Northern Maine, you know, `the other Maine". We pay enough for our gas here. Enough with the price gouging! ITS bad enough that you have forgotten about us, NO NEW GAS HIKES!!!!!. Between the cost of living and health insurrance, don't you think we have gone threw enough??!!??
