We feel it is very important for us to transition away from dirty fossil fuels while at the same time invest in clean reliable public transportation options. We need to clean up our air! |

There is certainly a need in PA to reduce the number of vehicles on overcrowded state highways and offer citizens alternative transportation methods (buses, trains, electric cars, etc.). Offering alternative transportation not only will reduce pollution but will create much needed jobs in the state. This is a forward thinking initiative and hopefully will be embraced by our Governor and legislature. |

I’m not willing to pay new taxes at the pump. I find it economically unsound and a detriment to all Maine residents. I do not think there will be a significant environmental benefit, possibly no benefit at all. I want to be free to choose the transportation mode that is best for my family and my community. Government should not try to control my behavior with mandates like the TCI gas tax. It is it regressive tax, Hurts the poor and has no effect on the rich and there’s a huge mistake.
Additionally Maine is such a rural state this will hurt much more coupled with the fact there is a little public transportation anywhere.” |

It can and must be dealt with now! Sufficient data shows that emissions contribute 38% of green house gases and have long been known to impact people of all ages, most notably the young and those with compromised health issues. Epidemiological models reveal associated health problems from vehicles.
On many fronts, the fallout from Climate Change is being recognized as an existential threat to humans. Transportation pollution is an added factor to the Climate Change equation. Rising sea levels, warmer temperatures, loss of wildlife habitats, devastating earthquakes and tornadoes, increased forest fires, land erosion, and polluted air are a mega threat to all of us.
We are beyond the need for more studies and reasons to procrastinate. Leaders must show they are on top of meeting the exigencies affecting our health and that they care. Can we justify why we are polluting their air of our children and diminishing their future?
I entreat you to take action. My appreciation to Governor Lamont for taking the initiative.
With all due respect and regard
Cordially,
Ann Beaudin

It is an important opportunity for Vermont to take responsible, effective action to address our unsustainable use of fossil fuels. Vermonters will end up paying for this regional agreement whether or not you enroll us. We should receive some financial benefit, especially if the benefit is used to help people with low incomes as has been proposed by VPIRG and others. By joining TCI, you would demonstrate your commitment to not only the environment but also to the people in Vermont who most need help. This action could offset some of the negative perceptions you have generated by recent vetoes of parental leave and minimum wage legislation. Thanks very much! |

Maine citizens have to drive long distances to work and back and are unable to rely upon mass transit which is nearly non existent. Heating oil is a inescapable necessity to survive Maine winters. Raising the cost of living in this State is a terrible idea and will end up forcing many citizens to depart for other States with much lower taxes and much lower energy costs. |

1. How would current and future Climate changes affect all people living with Dementia and Alzheimer and other disease o9f the brain?
2. How would anyone be able to help these individuals cope with Climate changes in the future around Air Pollutions, COVID-19 mortality and Communities of Color?
As a woman of color, I know women of color are the most likely to get Dementia and or Alzheimer before our white counterparts.
I would like to know if anyone can tell me if the warning signs are different with all of the diseases that we are now facing?
Looking forward to hear from you or anyone who was on the webcast about this upcoming health problems.

Transportation is an important sector to address, so is access to the local food system. Food Hubs are one solution to address food and transportation together. Funding from TCI could help support the creation of food hubs based on population density, demographics and relationship to food producing areas. Food Hubs that are decentralized but well planned shorten distance of travel from production of food to consumer, thus reducing miles traveled and fuel used. Hubs become spaces for building relationships, strong communities and encourage business enterprise development (i.e. value added products, or incubator accelerators). Hubs could be placed near population centers, thus addressing issues of food access and social equity. Food Hubs that prioritize regenerative, organic and soil building agriculture businesses can help accelerate soil as a carbon sequestering, or carbon drawdown opportunity. Food Hubs are a good investment for both reducing carbon use, capturing carbon, and supporting business development and community health and well being. |
