Hardworking Mainers can not afford the fuel hike that Governor Mills wants to impose. Outside of Cumberland County, the majority of Mainers are rural. That means driving distances just to get to work. Myself, I live in Belfast and used to have to commute to Bangor every days, a 40-mile 1 way trip. When Bush was in office and gas hit over $4 per gallon, I was forced to change to working 4 10+ hour days instead of 5 8-hour days just to save on the gas costs.

Governor Mills wants to send us back to those days, when people have to choose between paying for the gas to keep getting to work or paying other bills. It's unreasonable, and unwarranted. This is not California. The Democrats in the Portland area are NOT representative of Maine itself. This must NOT be permitted.

STOP THIS BS. I will do everything I can to stop this crap.. My main goal will be to take all of you out of our government... You should all move to Cal. this tax helped raise their gas price to over $4.00/gal.

So carbon, the element of all life on planet earth is going to destroy us unless I pay more in taxes? No. The state taking even more of my hard earned money will not effect the climate in any way shape or form. I am 100% against this boondoggle

I strongly oppose the TCI. We repealed the automatic gas tax increase at the ballot box in 2014 by a margin of 53-47. All new taxes are supposed to originate in the House of Representatives not with the Governor. We need to see which of our elected office holders are in favor of this disastrous initiative and hold them responsible at the ballot box. Enough of these crazy schemes! Just look to California to see what it has done to the price of a gallon of gas over now over $4.00.

I will not support this because of the gas tax. No way should the regular people of the state fund this project. This should be a federal program! We already pay some of the highest taxes in the country and I did not for Baker to create a gas tax! I agree that we need to more on global warming but not this way.

This is taxation without representation. And, predictions of manmade climate change are NOT being found in the natural world. Hurricanes are NOT increasing in numbers, Tornadoes are NOT increasing, Wildfires are actually at historic lows (check out Australia during the 70’s, FAR worse fires), and warming we've recently had can be TOTALLY explained as oscillations of the AMO and PDO. We are also WELL within historic warming periods of the Minoan, Roman, and Medieval Warming periods. Current warming is nothing new. Recent research into solar cycles shows that solar cycles actually DO EXACTLY correspond to these natural climate cycles (it's the Sun you fool!). By solar cycles, we are about to enter a Minima period of colder temperatures, starting in the mid 20's, that may last up to 200 years of COLDER temperatures. Anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) is a SCAM meant ONLY to provide an excuse for taxation. This is yet another example of this CORRUPT attempt to CREATE an existential threat, all to fund global (and now local) taxation. I completely oppose this attempt at sliding in a tax based on nothing more than political declarations and failed climate models that have NEVER accurately modeled the natural world.
And tell me how many of the AGW climate change predictions have come true? ZERO!
I will vote to unseat Charlie Baker in the next election; I only hope Massachusetts can produce a candidate worthy of my vote.
