We need to use clean, modern, transportation here in the densely-populated North East. I know that our greatest source of air pollution comes from transportation, so this is a practical way to reduce emissions in a large area with one grand effort! I hope New York State has formally joined the plan, and if not, that it will. And that the plan will particularly meet the needs of areas with a lot of pollution right now. I hate to think of the little children growing up in those areas, when this effort could provide at least part of the solution! We must reduce climate change, and this is one chance to start to do so in this area. Perhaps we can become a model for other areas if we do it well! |

Rather than building more roads, we need to concentrate on having greener public transportation that offers services to everyone- everywhere. This includes monorail expansions, electric cars and busses, recharging stations ( possibly electric rent a cars available that could be traded in and out at refueling stations ( akin to getting rested horses for the pony express and horse drawn carriages) Train services needs to increase in the DC, VA, MD area including more railcars and expanded hours in and out of major hubs. |

Thankfully there are model cities and regions around the world that can provide our region ideas. Because these model city ideas also provide a measurable track record to learn from. No need to start from scratch. The clock has been ticking for decades. We have already waited too long because of our national addiction to fossil fuels. It is in the best interest of all of us to adopt fossil-free plans NOW. |

Since fuel emissions are a major contributor to the growing crisis of climate change, I heartily support the coalition and its aims. I think that a plan that reduces emissions and traffic congestion is a great idea. The pollution from traffic has a major impact on health and contributes to any number of diseases. Some areas are overburdened by pollution and other areas suffer from a lack of access to public transportation which adds both traffic congestion and fuel exhaust from private vehicles to the atmosphere. I urge all of the officials to work together to improve the air in this high traffic, highly densely populated corridor. It is heartening to see efforts by state and local leaders to move us forward by improving conditions and reducing carbon emissions despite the federal government 's efforts to move the country backward. |

Every State in our country should participate and do everything it can to clean up and maintain our environment not only for us but for the health of the entire planet. Thank you for the bipartisan nature of this project, moving us forward while the federal government takes us backward!!!!! Your work is greatly appreciated. |

I strongly support the Transportation and Climate Initiative's plans to limit pollution (including carbon emissions) of the transportation segment of our economy. I am a Vermont... read more I strongly support the Transportation and Climate Initiative's plans to limit pollution (including carbon emissions) of the transportation segment of our economy. I am a Vermont resident, and am keenly aware of the need to use public resources to improve non-fossil-fuel transportation alternatives in our rural state. I am aware that the transportation sector is the largest source of global warming emissions, in the state, regionally and nationally. I am glad that Vermont is already part of the TCI, and urge VT State government to improve our commitments to lowering emissions, for the sake of ourselves, our environment, and our children's futures. I am pleased that this is a non-partisan effort, because these problems affect us all, now and in the future, not any one segment of our population.
I urge that the transportation plan include a strong component of equity in the investment in infrastructure, to benefit those who have been over-burdened by pollution, and those who currently do not have access to "clean" transportation options. It is critical that limits on fossil fuel use (which are necessary) NOT reduce the ability of those with lower incomes, or living in more rural areas to get to work, health-care, recreation and commercial areas.
I also support the regional nature of this planning, since the needed solutions cannot be implemented solely on a local or state level. Our existing transportation infrastructure crosses state lines, and will need to be re-configured on that basis. Different transportation modalities will need to be complementary, not separately designed as has been the case for far too long. Looking at the interlocking needs of citizens, businesses and institutions on a regional scale should increase the quality of the planning and the outcome on the ground.
I further urge that the planners "push the envelope" to make the most aggressive improvements in our carbon emissions in this region, as part of a global effort to save us from our past mistakes--many of which result from a lack of any coordinated, regional (or national) plan. It's time to step beyond the influence of those who already have economic and political power, and to look at the global needs of all of us--not just humans, either, but all life on earth. We have shown that we can set the Earth on a path toward destruction of species (including ourselves), now it is time to see if we can set our course to maintain bio-diversity, human diversity and the eco-systems on which we all depend. |

Regional policy has really helped in the electricity sector. We need additional funds and policies to upgrade public transportation and low CO2 means of transportation -- EV cars and busses.
The Transportation and Climate Initiative is a major step in helping improving our kids lives.
Thank you.

I care about reducing pollution from transportation, which is our largest source of global warming emissions (regionally and nationally, next to cattle farming) because it affects the health care/costs & well being of us all, children, adults, seniors, not to mention it's REALLY expensive to clean off soot from buildings to keep our cities presentable for tourism.
I kindly request that your state formally join the plan to reduce emissions.
The policy should have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
It is our duty as citizens of a free thinking democracy to work together for the good of citizens to move forward by planning ahead to protect future generations & our cities' economies by acting with forethought now.
Now is the time!
Thank you for hearing my words. Thank you for all you do in the name of the public good. Please make me proud again to be a citizen of the US by connecting with your heart, & asking yourselves, will this do good?
