In addition, Trump is also trying to do whatever he can to cause more pollution and add to the decline of this world. There is no "B" planet and if we want the human race to continue Trump not only needs to be stopped (Impeached and removed) and all the legislation that has been removed must be put back into enforcement. |

It would be wonderful, in this age of anger in politics, to see a bi-partisan effort to reduce these emissions, thereby - hopefully - insuring a brighter and healthier future for today's youth and this planet. I am 70 years old, and I remember as a young child being in heavy traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel and hardly able to breath. Things are better today but need to get better and I hope it will. |

This is a climate crisis, and we must immediately work to address the greatest challenge of our generation.
I support a transportation plan that is focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution while investing in sustainable transportation modes. Bus transit, rail, walking, and biking must be improved across the state, especially in cities and town centers.
This transportation plan is also a land use plan, and we must stop investing in a sprawling, unsustainable development model. Future development in the state must be in cities, town centers, and near transit stations.
We should not be investing in expanding interstates. Expanding our interstates in Connecticut both increases emissions in the long term from induced demand and increased driving while putting development pressure on the state’s dwindling forests and farms.
Many cities and towns in the region have shovel-ready plans to improve transit, rail, and active transportation. We must invest in a future with more people on buses, trains, on foot, and riding bicycles. That future includes more transit-oriented development in walkable communities.
Addressing greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles also means immediate health benefits for our most overburdened populations as a result of improved air quality and fewer emissions of localized pollutants responsible for cancer and respiratory and cardiovascular ailments, among other adverse health impacts. |

Transportation is a major contributor. At the same time, traffic congestion has become unbearable in the Boston area. So all measures we can use to decrease greenhouse gas emissions while providing better mass transit must be brought to bear as rapidly as can be managed. The Transportation and Climate Initiative is therefore a good idea, and should be implemented with the greatest urgency. |

Baker has shown recently his concern with traffic congestion in and around Boston. I applaud these efforts, and would like to urge him to go further and support the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI). If all 9 states and DC combine efforts - our transportation choices will get better and our emissions will decrease. The science of climate change demand efforts to move past our old 20thC combustion engine thinking and convert to new and clean transportation. Please make Massachusetts a leader in this effort. We will get both health and economic benefits and move to a sustainable future. |

The transportation plan should be a big part of this. The plan needs to hold large transportation polluters accountable for the pollution they create and needs to invest in clean transportation solutions. This should include transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas, expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets in the suburbs that are safe, walkable, and bikeable and sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities. |

But there are few, if any, alternatives to a car where I live, in Cecil County, MD. And when I was working (living in southern Baltimore County and working in central Howard County) there was no rapid transit available. The only way to get to work was to travel I-95, along with thousands of other vehicles. For the sake of our children and grandchildren, we can no longer afford to have massive amounts of cars on the road, many or most with one occupant. Our lungs cannot afford it, and our planet cannot afford it. We know how to do better, so there is no excuse to not do better. |

We are so far behind some European countries and must do better. People spend too much time driving to and from work. This wastes fuel and frustrates people, who in turn take out their aggression on innocent people driving. The environment is being ruined; and our health is at stake too. |

Cost savings through decreased dependency on fuel and risky, depreciating assets (cars); stimulated local and regional economy by improving mobility and connectivity; safe and welcoming streetscapes by transitioning from wide streets and parking spaces to infrastructure that encourages walking and biking. We can stop the long-held assumption that day-to-day living requires high levels of driving congestion, accidents, car pollution, and endless tax dollars for keeping up with vast road maintenance. Let's be an example for the country on how reprioritizing transit can generate significant financial, environmental, and societal benefits. |
