TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

This initiative has increased taxes written all over it. If one switches to hybrid and electric vehicles, where do the batteries get charged? If fossil fuel is to be replaced, there is not enough wind, solar and hydro to replace it, even in 30 years. Nuclear energy needs to be revisited. I have read where there is little if any wasted uranium with the new technology and water cooling has also changed. Why isn't nuclear power being discussed as an energy source? This initiative is very socialistic and makes government bigger and more costly. People that live in rural areas do not need or require all the transportation services of the city. Many are willing to make the services trade off for a rural lifestyle. Careful study of the costs and benefits of this proposal are called for. Thank you.

I support this general concept because I am worried that the current Amtrak and other current train transportation systems are located too close to the coast and will be subjected to increasing damage as sea levels rise and storm intensities increase, as well as due to aging. The east coast needs inland transportation networks that are electricity based. Large wind turbine arrays off shore are being planned and can provide plenty of clean renewable electricity for buses and vans and trains that can recharge at night and/ or during the day when excess electricity is being generated. This can reduce cost and pollution and provide new manufacturing and installation jobs as all this new infrastructure is being built and expanded over the next several decades. Cement used for (eg platfoms for stations and turbines) could be made by new methods that cut carbon dioxide emissions.Raising gasoline and fossil fuel taxes could help provide revenues and discourage the use of private vehicles using fossil fuels. As you plan think about these possibilities and other new ways to cut costs and cut emissions.

In this terrible economic time, do you really think your TCI agenda will help. You are looking to far down the road with the TCI plan. You need to concentrate on the economic hardship that is upon millions of people NOW! Revisit your TCI plan maybe a couple of years from now. Let us catch our breath from the Covid-19 mess!!

Let call it what it is, a TAX. This program will be bureaucracy, managed by non-elected officials that will not be accountable once put in place. Any changes to evolve the program in the future will be done at their discretion, not for the general commuters needs. I'm all for a clean energy future but want to have a say in how it evolves from what we learn along the way. Only special influence groups will have their input heard, it will be a system ripe for corruption. We need to have a say in our transportation future, we do not want un-elected bureaucrats running this that do not have accountability to the general citizen class!!!! Keep in mind once this scheme is in place they will become greedy and go after heating fuels before you know it!

I'm all for cutting fossil fuels for as so long as the middleclass is not taxed. In addition it is time for corporate America to stop ripping us off. Another words, all cars should be electric for the same cost as a combustion Engine. I'm sick and tired of Car Companies giving me the same old narrative that it cost an extra 20K... Also to supplement this initiative-keep people working at home even after this Pandemic is defeated. With technology, there is no reason to drive into big cities with traffic jams causing more pollution. With that being said, we cannot control our weather or climate which is ok; therefore, adaptation is the remedy. Not increase taxes into fooling ourselves that we can change our climate. The technology is here! Lets all work together! Thank you.
