According to a recently released study by Harvard and other institutions, if the program is designed appropriately, up to 1,100 lives can be saved annually, and the region could see $11 billion in health benefits each year....very clear benefits for people and planet! |

I feel strongly that climate change mitigation is the single most important goal all agencies need to have right now. If we do not act swiftly and decisively NOW then all the other things we like to think are important will just fall by the wayside. We must reduce carbon combustion and encourage sustainable energy and we must plan for the effects of climate change that are already too far along to be immediately stopped. We must commit to bold action TODAY. |

We MUST eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels and prepare for the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Revolutions (which have already started!)! This must include the following:
- 100% electrification of homes, buildings, and transportation systems (vehicles, buses, trucks, mass transit)!
- Immediately stop ALL exploration and development of fossil fuel sources.
- Immediately stop ALL development of fossil fuel infrastructure (e.g. pipelines, power plants)!
- Eliminate ALL fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks!
- Increase spending on research and development of renewable energy, energy storage, and improving energy efficiency!
- Implement natural climate solutions (e.g. restoring and conserving the natural world/ecosystems)!
- Improve environmental literacy of all citizens, but especially our youth! |

I worked for the US DOE back in the 1990's when we began the Clean Cities program, and am frustrated that more progress has not resulted with clean transportation. I believe the TCI will be successful similar as the RGGI initiative has been with the power sector, and will continue actively promoting it and encourage others to support it. |

Likewise underground rail systems could transport people by the same long distance subterranean means. Maglev trains for both cargo and people could be powered by solar farms out in the desert southwestern U.S. By the way I'm available for consultation--I've got two engineering degrees, a pragmatic imagination and a desire to keep our species from wiping out the rest. I'm not cheap but a lot cheaper than the alternative. Thanks for reading. |
