TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

It is not Democracy when you don’t allow the people of the state to vote on raising any tax. I drive 37miles a day to work as an RN in Boston. Everything keeps going up but my salery. I ask our Governor to oppose this illegal tax hike. At least let us vote on the issue
I’m ready to move to New Hampshire or North Carolina. Enough is enough

To implement this policy without the support of the elected representatives of my state government is grossly irresponsible. If and when my elected representatives have the opportunity to consider and vote on it, I want the opportunity to hold them accountable for this tax. I consider the intent of this initiative to be fundamentally flawed and the likelihood of government spending to have any meaningful effect to be highly unlikely.

TCI is another attempt to ram another tax down our throats. Once the politicians start taking your money without your approval, especially for a " CLIMATE" initiative it will never end. Any money that is spent on something that you can never change,like the "CLIMATE" will turn into a progressive milking of taxpayer money . Like the progressive tax tax that we voted against some years ago. Unlike the FMLA "TAX" that was forced on the Massachusetts worker, this "TCI" should ,at the very least, be brought to the voters. Don't the citizens of Massachusetts pay enough taxes? Bring it to the voters.

I and my family are opposed to the TCI. This tax in sheep's clothing is nothing more than and end run around the normal legislative process. The TCI is an affront to the common sense of Massachusetts citizens. We have had enough of "government" by bureaucratic fiat.

As a retired person on a fixed income I am opposed to any increase in the cost of fuel ESPECIALLY WITHOUT A VOTE OF OUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES.

We already said NO to increasing fuel taxes. To Charlie Baker and our representatives, just stop this nonsense. It'll increase the cost of everything!!!

Less Waste, Less Hack Hiring, Rescind Legislative Pay Raises, Lower Bloated State Salaries, $120, 000 in student loans for my sons to attend UMASS Lowell , Lower the sales tax to 5.00% as the people voted to do years ago and last but not least, less spending on illegal aliens, section 8, medical care, food stamps, welfare, etc. Try driving my Rt. 128 south for 32.2 miles commute at 7AM to earn a living. Enough is Enough already with the MA taxes! My wife and I will be leaving this state as soon as possible.

While the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance applauds Governor Charlie Baker and his administration’s efforts to reduce pollution in the transportation sector, we have serious concerns with the direction in which the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) is taking our state, all without explicit legislative approval. Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Kathleen Theoharides claims the difference between TCI and a gas tax is the point of regulation. This is irrelevant to consumers who will soon be paying more at the pump for this regressive tax scheme. Make no mistake: this is a very slippery slope for Massachusetts. Although this is still in the early stages, lawmakers from other states in the TCI agreement are seeking legislative approval. Governor Baker’s administration, whether legally required or not, should also act in good faith and seek legislative approval. There must be an open and transparent legislative process on the details of the agreement.
