Job creation in these sectors will help our economy as well, from maintenance to other related jobs that can arise from this transition to clean power and energy. Light electric rail lines are needed out to UConn from the coast and Hartford. There is a large commuter population that drives only! Tap our local college grads and hire local throughout the state to keep these grads in CT and raise their families. We are loosing by people because of the high cost of living. My children cannot afford to live here!
Underground or electric wires need to be contained in some kind of ground level system that is safe and easy to repair. We don’t have to bury them. The existing lines are wasteful and dangerous during storms.
Solar needs to be addressed in new and better ways including the ability to install our own panels or Co-op share in neighborhoods.
I agree that action going forward need to be bold and agressive to turn CT into a climate leader and create new jobs in ALL of our communities: black, Latino and white. Let’s lead the way.
Thank you.

TCI will need to be in force over many years, with consistent and predictable changes in its cost impacts in order to modify market behavior in a non-disruptive way. I believe the market will be receptive to the spirit and financial incentives of TCI.
As an EV owner and rider of public transit I support the MOU as a way evolve our transportation system from carbon-emitting single-rider vehicles to electrified multimodal options. |

Trying to disguise it as a “climate initiative” may work on most of your low information voters but I will be telling as many people as I can that this is nothing more than another scam being pulled on the tax payers. This is a perfect example of why we need two party representation in this state. The Democrats continue to rob us blind and no one holds them accountable. |

Maine is a huge state with many rural areas where driving considerable distances is imperative for education, employment and daily living. Many of us are on fixed incomes and cannot absorb the increased costs of getting groceries and medical care.
The negative impact this will have on the citizens is certain. The impact this will have on climate change is questionable.
Government has proven itself incapable of winning any of the "wars" it has declared, be it poverty, drugs or hunger. I do not expect this to be any different. All it will do is waste taxpayers' money and make politicians feel better about themselves. There is no reason to squander resources or pander to elected officials or faceless bureaucrats.
I urge you to disapprove all efforts to increase taxes on commodities we cannot function without purchasing. |

We must develop a regional policy for low-carbon public transportation for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region, for that matter the entire country.
That being said unfortunately I am an artist living in Berkshire County on a limited income, driving a 13 year old vehicle which get about 15 MPG and cannot afford to buy a more fuel efficient model. If I could I would buy an electric plug-in vehicle but I cannot.
We are all in this together! We need a healthy climate! We need renewable energy! How can we make this work and not unduly burden those least able to afford it???!!! |

Rising seas will be greatly impact the future of our most important cities. Everything within our power must be done to reduce carbon emissions now. In order to maintain the viability of the region mass transit and EV cars and busses must be at the center of planning now for the future change coming at us more quickly than many can imagine! |

Currently, our system is an embarrassment in that it is extremely overcrowded and constantly plagued with delays, equipment problems, vehicles that should have been retired decades ago, and over-reliance on expensive, dirty, obsolete, and taxpayer-subsidized fossil fuels. This proposal would fix many of these problems and thus should be implemented ASAP. Not only would the proposal create jobs, but it would also create a cleaner, more stress-free environment for us all -- in short, a system we could be proud of.
As a bit of a side note, it is extremely suspicious that many of the disapproving comments that are flooding this proposal appear to be generated by automated bots impersonating real people. One can only wonder who is behind this activity, but the fact that the fossil fuel companies are flush with cash and have repeatedly demonstrated a contempt for our democracy and the needs of local communities, as well as a willingness to corrupt the political and regulatory processes, points to an obvious culprit. |

To raise my taxes without any legislative representation is akin to how the American Revolution started. You have apparently deemed yourselves smarter and more compassionate about the environment than those you wish to force to pay for your nonsense. Even if enacted, the impact would be minuscule, yet the impact on the taxpayer, business owner and driver would be monumental. Perhaps you don't mind paying more at the pumps, or in stores for merchandise and services but I for one do mind. All of this in the name on making yourselves feel better? That you have done something good for the environment? It all comes at the expense of our freedom and basic representation and is not a price I'm willing to pay. |
