Transportation is responsible for much of Pennsylvania's, and the nation's, contribution to climate change. Hence, reducing pollution from transportation is a key component of reducing Pennsylvania's total greenhouse gas emissions, and investing in public transportation would greatly help to reduce such emissions. For example, in Luzerne County, the Luzerne County Transportation Authority has several hybrid buses in its fleet. However, although such vehicles produce fewer harmful emissions, electric buses would eliminate emissions. Investing TCI funds in public transportation could help counties, like Luzerne, purchase electric buses. TCI funds also could be used to improve public transportation in currently under-served communities and in communities that experience the worst vehicle pollution. Hence, I ask that Governor Wolf and other leaders join together to from the TCI, and I urge those leaders and policy makers to choose the most aggressive greenhouse gas reduction targets that the most recent climate science tells us we need to meet in order to adequately reduce Pennsylvania's, and the nation's, substantial carbon footprint.
Thank you for considering my comments.

DC that is of the best introduction they can do for the Nationals that support ASEA efforts. June is a beautiful month of the year regardless of climate conditions because they really don't get to far fluctuated in much of any direction. Possibly the logistics of The UCS Chicago Dept. efforts would make a move over here where I am doing this desktop message as it is a quaint little or medium size town that has many pluses that the average joe would not appreciate as much without more scientific facts perhaps. Recently WTAE channel 4 here in this Wilkinsburg 15221 town emphasized science @ math for the youngsters to take interest in w/ ads and commercials on the tv, this action has prompted me to ask the UCS Chicago Dept. to place a type of storefront branch of the UCS here in Wilkinsburg for the people to consider as a fine drop-off center or club or after school activity....venue or hangout toward their goals of future (employment perhaps) aspirations and cleaner environment for the sake, it seams, of their parents own problems. It would have been really cool if their was a place for or of science when I was young to drop by to and I would like to see the facility prosper the area here east of downtown Pittsburgh, (which I like to call Pittsburgh-east) as we @ the UCS would be a part of. Luv is on the way., your supporter and friend in Pa. , David P Fisher. Ph. (412) 403-2584 thanks guys |

I am opposed to the TCI plan as outlined: Capping sales of gasoline and diesel, requiring suppliers to purchase allowances in order to sell motor fuel, and having consumers pay higher prices at the pump in order to subsidize electric vehicles.
This proposal negatively impacts low income Vermonters, particularly those that live in rural areas of the state. It would only help those who are considering purchasing a new electric vehicle and/or those that live in urban areas with access to public transportation.
Furthermore, while some consumers may be able to choose public transportation or an electric car to avoid the increased cost in gasoline, there is no viable option for businesses that need diesel trucks. In Vermont, 25% of the motor fuel sold is diesel— and we need diesel trucks to haul milk, logs and other products that benefit our agricultural economy. Diesel is also sold with increasing blends of renewable biodiesel, which is critical for Vermont and the Northeast to meet our energy goals.
We ask you to slow down this process and consider taking diesel fuel out of TCI. |

New car buyers need to be incentivized to buy electric. We need to continue the NY State rebates as well as pass legislation to have the first $30K of the EV purchase be tax free. We need to move more quickly on the infrastructure of fast chargers along all of our highways. This would encourage those who still have range anxiety that q quick charge is available everywhere across the state. Expanding light rail in NYs larger cities will take many cars off the road, reduce commute time and bring economic development along it's corridors. We need to provide more grants for our transit authorities to transition to BEBs as well as our school systems. This is an environmental justice issue as well as a way to improve our air quality. Since the transportation sector generates up to 40% of all GHGs in NY State with over 60% coming from light passenger vehicles improving accessibility and reliability in our public transit systems is of utmost importance in the equation. Buffalo residents without cars have long waiting periods between buses, sometimes dangerous stops due to snow pile up and not enough routes for outer city jobs. These are all ways to improve transportation while addressing goals to reduce GHGs. |

We need a massive plan to transform our society similar to the war effort in the Forties and TCI is a feel good bandaid on a massive wound and will just distract us from focusing on a plan that will comprehensively address this crisis. This plan among other things, must address the neglected parts of our society, for to work, it must have the support of all citizens. It must also address the main cause of the climate problem: the capitalist system where the wealthy prosper and the poor are left to their own devices to survive; making things for commerce's sake, not because we need these things; increasingly extracting material from the earth as if it is inexhaustible leaving behind a polluted earth and air now so degraded that we are on the brink of extinction - all in the pursuit of market projections that our businesses must not fail to meet not what is the best we can do for mankind. This is time for the boldest thinking we can muster if we are to survive - not this weak answer to the most dire issue mankind has created or faced.

While I believe we must do what it takes to reduce our carbon footprint and a regional (or national) solution is needed, I read the MOU and don't understand how this raises more money than could be raised from either increasing the existing taxes on fuels or instituting a production- or distributor- level tax on all fuels. It is complex, requires new bureaucracy (overhead), and introduces opportunities for profiteers to work the system. And... it won't start to fund clean energy projects for two years. Conclusion: If this is the only way to increase cost of fossil fuels and incentivize green initiatives, then I'm supportive, but I'd prefer a more direct and immediate solution. |
