Having let the politics of profit fritter away earlier efforts to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels, at this late date we need to do everything we can to both eliminate greenhouse gas emissions and greatly increase carbon sequestration if we are to survive. To reduce emissions without compromising nature's sequestration capabilities, responsibly produced solar, wind and hydro electricity must replace fossil fuels in transportation.	-

Furthermore, not just equipment, but employee energy use must be factored into all options. Too often I feel energy use at the "retail" level gets all the focus, and I am hoping this initiative takes the matter wholistically.	-

With no public transportation, and much higher than average commuting distances, workers in this already disadvantaged part of the state can ill-afford to bear the extra cost associated with increased gasoline taxes at any level of government.	-

It amounts to a carbon tax at the wholesale level and ultimately another tax on gas and diesel. Taxes are already too high, we do not need to add more. Such an initiative needs to be voted by the State legislature, it should not be implemented by the Executive branch or other means. CA is losing business and residents because of excessive regulation and taxes. We do not need gas prices exceeding $4 per gallon or higher car prices, etc.	-

The best... read more This country desperately needs to design and implement a regional low-carbon transportation system that caps and reduces carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels. The best way to do that is likely through a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanisms so that industry can facilitate the transition. This starts with policy development, which needs to happen immediately with an aim to complete the policy development process within one year, after which each jurisdiction will decide whether to adopt and implement the policy. Please support this effort.	-

If the needs of low income people are not addressed, they will be forced into making choices which undermine the wonderful goals of this project. Choices such as driving highly polluting vehicles or being susceptible to believing the misinformation of carbon polluters. I urge you to move forward with a regional program that prioritizes the needs of communities overburdened with pollution and underserved with transportation options. Thank you.	-
