There should be no room in a civilized society for air and water to be anything less than pristine, both from a health perspective, and from a quality of life perspective. The fact that transportation pollution disproportionately affects inner-city neighborhoods is just one of many reasons. None of us are untouched by pollution and its effects. The science is clear that man made causes of climate change need to be reversed before they create a permanently non-reversible situation that is untenable. From a personal perspective, my spouse has no options but to drive in heavy stop-and-go traffic two times each day. There are no public means of transportation to travel north and south on Route 128, nor many other routes as well. This directly affects our quality of life, and productive or enjoyable personal time. It also heavily adds to the region's pollution and the effect on the ozone layer.
I appreciate that Governor Baker is in favor of this initiative, and I hope it is the first of many such initiatives to come that will turn back the hands of time to before the productive, but detrimental, industrial age. |

There is a great of talk and admissions about emissions, (nice turn of phrase, don't you think?) but actually tempering the huge carbon imprint that transportation represents has yet to be tackled. TCI is our starting point and the fear and reality of rising gas prices is a small price to pay to get this transition, upon which our survival rests, started. |

This must end. Major improvements in mass transit, an ongoing building of bicycle infrastructure, and the electrification of the remained of the sector are all essential to nothing less than survival. TCI is taking the long view that a cap and trade approach will help accomplish this end. Frankly, only draconian measures, at this point, will bring down our carbon input, but this is a good start. Please back this legislation. |

Rides are unreliable and buses infrequent. I would rely on buses more if they came more often, and on time.
I also wonder if a difference could be made simply by eliminating idling engines in parking lots—leaving the air conditioning on in the summer, heat in the winter, while going into a store for 10-20 minutes. |

"Man is born into the universe with a personality that is his own. He has a right that is founded upon the constitution of the universe to have property that is his own. Ultimately, property rights and personal rights are the same thing. The one cannot be preserved if the other be violated. Each man is entitled to his rights and the rewards of his service be they never so large or never so small."

Under the Massachusetts Constitution, It is the duty of the House of Representatives to first consider revenue bills and if approved then send them to the Senate for consideration.
As "climate change" is a fraudulent scheme to transfer American wealth to corrupt third world governments in Mexico, South America, the Middle East and Africa through the imposition of carbon taxes, a regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanism would be antithetical to and incompatible with our capitalist economic system, our Constitutional Republic and the system of ordered liberty that the brilliant systems experts John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and others gave us.
The Transportation Climate Initiative (TCI) proposal is a backdoor attempt to raise the gas tax that consumers will have to pay for at the pump. I urge you to demand that Governor Charlie Baker seek a legislative vote on the merits of TCI before Massachusetts moves forward in the process. I also have concerns with raising any gas taxes and urge you to vote against all gas tax bills. The TCI gas tax will mean less money in the taxpayer's pocket and an even higher cost of living where we are already near the highest in the nation.
It must be noted that implementing a TCI tax without having it first considered by the Massachusetts House and then sent to the Senate would be a gross violation of the letter and spirit of the Massachusetts Constitution.
Again, I urge you to demand that Governor Charlie Baker seek a legislative vote on the merits of TCI before Massachusetts moves forward in the process. I also urge you to vote NO on any new TCI gas taxes, any TCI regional policies or any other gas tax increases. |

A Declaration of the Rights of the Inhabitants of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Article XXIII.
No subsidy, charge, tax, impost, or duties, ought to be established, fixed, laid, or levied, under any pretext whatsoever, without the consent of the people or their representatives in the legislature.
The TCI is a tax and cannot be enacted or adopted in Massachusetts without the revenue bill having first been originated and passed by the Massachusetts Legislature and then approved by the Governor of the Commonwealth.
Since all drivers in Massachusetts would be affected by this wasteful tax, most people in Massachusetts would have standing to pursue a law suit to render the TCI tax null and void. I am certain that if the tax is adopted, this will immediately be done. This agreement is ill-advised and is dangerous to the freedoms of the Citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to the Citizens of all other states which may unwisely and incorrectly think that they can gratuitously impose taxation without representation upon their Citizens.
Politicians who want to be on the right side of history should reject and vote no on the TCI tax initiative agreement. They will be held accountable at the ballot box for their actions. |

We deserve to breathe clean air. I wholeheartedly support any gas tax as long as its revenue is spent on independence from passenger cars, especially those powered by internal combination engines.
Also, spend some of that tax revenue on ev insentives and don't charge electric cars with the proposed 250$ annual registration fee. Ev owners already pay tax on their expensive car and their electric bill. I am planning to purchase an ev in 2020 but won't do so if I have to if you force me to pay an extra 250$ registration tax every year. Ev owners should be motivated, not punished. |

There was a town in Texas (Georgetown) that went to complete renewable energy and the residents electric bills went up to astronomical rates.
Our electric utilities are already wanting their rate payers to fund the cost of building EV charging stations when there are not many people who will use them. Electric cars create a carbon footprint also. There have been studies done.
As far as switching cars to electric you are just switching one form of carbon for another. Power companies are not grabbing lightning bolts out of the air for your electricity. The more electric used the more carbon they will produce. Renewable energy is not able to replace the amount of energy we use.
You would be far better off getting people to use public transit. Penalize people for driving huge non efficient vehicles. Invest in renewable energy to help supplement other sources of power.
