Thank you for helping to design a regional policy to limit climate pollution from motor fuels and invest in a modern, clean, transportation future. The evidence is clear: the more we limit pollution from motor fuels, the more jobs are created, the more the economy grows, and the more lives we save. Please sign on to the agreement to implement a strong, equitable regional climate protection policy through TCI. Invest in the communities that have suffered the most from burning gasoline and have the least access to clean transportation options. Stop sending our hard-earned dollars out of the state to oil companies, and choose to create jobs, grow the economy, and save lives for families and businesses. Thank you. |

Modeled on the successful system for reducing GHG emissions from power plants, this initiative to cap and reduce emissions from transportation fuel combustion is one part of a necessary plan to keep GHG emissions at a livable level. I read many of the comments already submitted and find strong support in heavily populated states such as Maryland, New Jersey, others, but opposition in Maine, where people now must rely on private cars in the absence of transit alternatives. This is where incentives should increase public electric transport and purchase of electric vehicles. Folks, we have a climate crisis here we simply must address. This initiative can be a big part of the solution. Thank you for the proposal. |

The more we limit pollution from motor fuels, the more jobs are created, the more the economy grows, the healthier our air is and the more lives we save.
Governors from across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic released a draft agreement to limit climate pollution from motor fuels and invest in an economy built on clean transportation. These changes will reduce traffic congestion, make clean vehicles more accessible, increase jobs, and grow the economy. |

The carbon dioxide that we, collectively, pump into the atmosphere year after year is a major cause of climate change, and transportation is a main source of carbon emissions. Please take action now to price carbon emission from all sources, including transportation, to (1) incentivize people to reduce their carbon footprints, and (2) provide revenue that'll be used for both research into and projects based on non-carbon-based energy alternatives to coal and oil. |

The actions and legislation we take today will impact future generations of humans, animals, and plants. We must begin to restore the balance of nature by moving past the "Dark Ages" of fossil fuels. We must "design a regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanism" and "complete the policy development process within one year, after which each jurisdiction will decide whether to adopt and implement the policy.” Change is best made at the individual, local, and state levels because we cannot depend upon the federal government to take action. We are stewards of our Earth. And positive changes can be made!

The infrastructure to support this can be funded through a cap and invest program. The benefits of “clean” transportation will decrease expenditures in health costs. Recent research reveals a correlation between hospitalizations and deaths attributable to local levels of air pollution. The benefits of this initiative are well beyond just greenhouse emissions. |
