TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

I am saddened by another scheme to extract more tax money from an already overburdened citizenry. I believe programs like this are more successful at increasing the size and scope of government than they are at alleviating any potential climate change issues. I see taxpayers as the victims of opportunistic politicians and bureaucrats.

This initiative will not do anything to improve transportation in my rural community and will put a large dent in my budget due to both increased individual gas prices and increased transportation prices for goods. This will put a huge burden on people who are on limited budgets. Both the lower and middle income families will be greatly impacted. Do not vote for this. Anyone who does should be voted out of office. It is yet another tax which will end up costing taxpayers a lot and offer little in actual resolutions.

Stop burdening tax paying citizen with more taxes that do little or nothing to better the lives of ordinary taxpaying citizens.
Do not create more taxes for others to parasite off those who drive gas powered vehicles.
Start your low carbon initiative with China and India before you attack myself and other Rhode Island Taxpayers.

Please do not burden working people with another expense that they can’t afford. If you want to make the cities cleaner stop giving tax breaks to corporations to move there. Too many people in concentrated areas is the biggest cause of pollution on the planet. The more comfortable and easier that you make living in the city the bigger the problem gets.

This note is in strong opposition the the TCI (Transportation and Climate Initiative).

Let's start with the tax increase to fund Climate Change. The issue of climate change is up for serious debate with respect to that fact it is caused by humans, and (apparently cows now too). We know we used to be in an ice age. We know that volcanos are the largest contributors to CO2. We also know that it is not the USA alone that affects the atmosphere. We know that climate is changing. We recognize and know there is a difference between climate and atmosphere. What about the other countries. What about the other states. There is too much speculative information as well as too much misinformation to strap the states to this TCI, a localized version of Cap and Trade via the REGGI (Regional Green House Gas Initiative).
To those of us watching, and keeping an eye on the hot topics of government we see this as all small bites of the same apple. Government overreach and a way to shackle us in the chains of tax burdens in an attempt to limit and restrict our actions.

Let's look at the other states relative to this silly notion of implementing the TCI. So far, we have Vermont, Connecticut, and New Hampshire governors pulling out of the TCI. They clearly understand for a variety of reasons, that the TCI is at best a regressive tax that will negatively affect the economy of their states. This will put a financial burden on the public, & the business community, the very essence of what keeps the states economies moving.

We live in the state of Maine, a pretty rural state with many roads and bridges. Currently our politicians-(ex:Bill Diamond state senator from Windham) are already considering a raise in the full tax, and possibly adding new tolls to our highway and road system, all in the name of bridge and road repair. I get we need the keep the infrastructure in good shape. This all should be done through our massive state budget. Things important items need to be prioritized & funded appropriately in the State budget.

Now imagine being hit by these two taxes on fuel at the same time. I say this will cripple the Maine economy in a way not seen in a very long time. This type of initiative while seemly well purposed by some-will harm our states economy to the point where it may be unrecognizable. This is a very dangerous proposal. You don't have to be rocket scientist to see the far reaching, long rage negative affects this will have if implemented.

For the love of the sate of Maine. I urge you to join with the governors of VT, CT, and NH and withdraw from the TCI.

Maine pays more taxes for this initiative in many ways and there really is no need to make it more difficult for us to survive. Greed by our representatives is moving this initiative and nothing else. We have made costly improvements in our vehicles to combat the false claim of Climate Change which actually is a matter of the earths evolution and we all know this as this has been taking place since the origin of Earth. Don't you think it is time 5to stop stealing what is RIGHTFULLY OURS ?

Are you kidding me? I live in the greenest state in the union and you want me to fund "carbon emmission reduction" in the big cities? I live in Maine because there is less po;ution here. I don't live in or near an urban area for just that reason. If Boston wants to polute the world; why is that my problem? Why should I pay more to fund something created out of bullsh*t science to begin with? I am tired of rich government fat cats dictating what I should spend my money on. If you want these policies, then you pay for it, you government millionares and billionares. Stop etting rich off the backs of the American people. Maybe you should reevaluate what it means to be a public "servant." Emphasis on the word in quotes.
