Here in the U.S., where many politicians and "conservative" news outlets make it seem that climate change is a myth, and electric vehicles are science fiction, you may assume there is no need to do anything, and that there are no solutions. So perhaps you shoudl wonder why the European Union, China, India, and much of the world are charging ahead, not only making policy, but eating our lunch in the business of clean vehicles.
You know who won't buy the lies from the oil industry? YOUR CHILDREN, AND YOUR GRAND-CHILDREN.
Please act. Transportation is the U.S.' largest source of greenhouse gases, and hugely-polluting buses and trucks - especially diesel ones - are some of the largest source of those transportation emissions. Worse, many of them operate (and idle) close to schools). Help us go electric (and help CT source that electricity from CLEAN, renewable supplies).

Although Biddeford and Saco are adding many residential units in formerly vacant mills they are not adequately anticipating the transportation emergency that may result with no clear public transportation adaptations. Extended diesel spewing bus routes will not be enough or good for our environment. Low cost electric shuttles might be an answer in addition to bikeways and pedestrian malls. Alternatives need to be proposed.

I am concerned that cap and invest is complicated and could be easily tweaked so that it may not truly accomplish these important goals. Are there more direct ways to accomplish this? Also, I think it would be very important to consider how air transportation fits in this plan. I also wonder about the benefits of improved rail systems for people and freight. |

While local taxes and fees have continued to rise, it seems that the Governor and the Massachusetts Legislature are always looking for ways to take more money from my household.
This is not some abstract concept or idea, it is reality. Many retirees are just hanging on by a thread. We can't afford to buy electric vehicles, nor can we realistically be expected to maintain our dignity and our homes when you people continue to come up with ideas that hurt the elderly, lower income citizens, and people on fixed incomes. These two taxes/fees will hurt those in a lower income bracket, but apparently, you only care about us when it's time to ask for our vote.
I always knew the Democrat-led legislature was all about raising taxes and fees, but this so-called Republican Governor is the biggest phony I have ever seen. Perhaps, like so many other Massachusetts politicians, he believes his press clippings, and thinks he could run for President down the road, like his fellow former liberal Governor Devol Patrick. Why not run right now, Charlie Baker? Get the hell out of office you liberal POS! |

From what I have seen the energy use to create electric MV's is equivalent or greater than what is used to operate gasoline MV's. My car gets 30+ PPG and frankly I cannot the cost of the electric cars.
We do not think that enough positive and honest proof has been obtained to make the case for forcing our citizens to environmentally accepted MV's. There seems to be two versions of so called climate change and until more positive proof is shown than it is unfair and un-American to force such taxes on us to make us change our methods of transportation. It is a bad deal to force cultural change on people via taxation. I urge that this problem be given much thought and alternative methods be carefully looked at before we are taxed just for a reason that is yet to be proven.
