TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

I would like to see a lot more public transportation in NJ, especially in the North-South direction. I live in Basking Ridge, but there are a lot of jobs in Princeton and Parsippany, for example. For me to use public transit to get to these towns, I'd have to take a train into NYC and back out again, taking 3 hours for what should take 30-45 minutes one way. I mean expanding both rail and bus service in this case.

It is critical to preserving our quality of life that changes be made to our transportation systems to significantly reduce the damage done by carbon emissions. States must work together so that a cohesive solution will meet the target of achieving both reduction of emissions and providing the transportation services needed by private citizens and commercial interests.

VT Buses need to be electric, and there are a lot of areas they don't go. Expand the routes by sending out questionnaires to all residents. We VTers need better access to commercial bus-lines, rail (e.g., Montrealer, etc.), and airlines. There needs to be transportation to Burlington and Montpelier (the East side of the state is woefully neglected). How about bus lines, etc. accepting debit/credit cards instead of change? How about interstate transportation (e.g., St. Johnsbury to Littleton, Hanover, Lebanon, NH). In France they have a rapid/quiet train system which rides on opposing magnetic fields -- this would be a wonderful update for some of the U.S. rail systems (esp. the Montrealer).

The time is now to get our planet out of jeopardy. The ongoing raping of the earth is poisoning all creatures including humans. Have a heart and a conscience stop the oil companies and their political cronies.

I support whatever means the state can employ to maximize low-carbon transportation. For example, I would support:
-Maximum investment in battery electric buses
-Incentives and fees to promote battery electric delivery vehicles, garbage trucks, construction vehicles, etc.
-Tax credits for battery electric or plug-in hybrid electric car buyers
-Incentives for dealerships to sell battery electric or plug-in hybrid electric cars
-Elimination of all subsidies to fossil fuel companies
-Corporate carbon taxes and/or caps
-Higher gasoline tax
-Fees for businesses and homeowners generating excessive landfill waste
-Subsidies to expand public transportation accessibility and desirability

I live 7 miles from my workplace and enjoy the privilege of riding my bicycle to and from work. Otherwise I drive a gasoline car. I would ride more often if there were more desirable bicycle routes or roads with bicycle lanes. I would also take public transportation if there was a bus running every 15-20 minutes that would not require 1 or more transfers. Lastly, I would drive an electric vehicle if I could afford one.

I strongly urge all law makers to treat de-carbonizing our transportation system as a top priority. While I fear the current proposal may not go far enough, I support this initiative as a critical first step in solving this issue.

Please remember that we are not the only species on this planet. We share the Earth with other species, and we should be mindful of that.
