Pennsylvania should formally join the plan to reduce emissions. Policies should be equitable by prioritizing clean investments in areas already overburdened by pollution. I appreciate the bipartisan nature of this project and think it's great that states can do something, despite current federal policies that are going in the wrong direction. |

I have lived in Japan and seen the liberating effect that low-cost, reliable, and accessible public transportation has on communities. People who are too young, too old, or too poor to use cars can easily get to jobs, schools, and events. The Northeast should lead our nation in community-friendly, environmentally friendly public transport. |

As a resident of Maine, I see the lack of accessibility for many of the rural citizens, due to not having any form of public transportation. Those who do not live in the Greater Portland area are restricted to only using a car to get places, and have to travel to the more populated areas which can be expensive if they are lower income. This increase of need to be driving a car increases carbon output and is detremental to the environment, much more than a public transportation. People in northern New England would be willing to utilize affordable public transportation if it was an option. Connecting the mid-Atlantic would also increase people's ability to travel and spend money in other states, which would ultimately boost the economy. Lastly, it would allow people with medical conditions, disabilities or other impairments to access more services in a greater area because there would be accessible and affordable public transportation. Please consider funding this project and allowing residents in even some of the most rural areas to be able to access public transportation. |

Connecticut’s transportation sector is the biggest single emitter of greenhouse gas emissions in the state at 38% of the total. This is a climate crisis, and we must immediately work to address the greatest challenge of our generation.
I support a transportation plan that is focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution while investing in sustainable transportation modes. Bus transit, rail, walking, and biking must be improved across the state, especially in cities and town centers.
We should not be investing in expanding interstates. Expanding our interstates in Connecticut both increases emissions in the long term from induced demand and increased driving while putting development pressure on the state’s dwindling forests and farms.
Thank you for this opportunity to give input. |
