We did not consciously vote for Representatives to take it upon themselves to spend, spend, and spend. We elected our Representatives to work in our best interest. No candidate was voted into office with a carte blanche credit card. Our expectation is that our Representatives work diligently to reduce unnecessary costs and balance the state budget. The citizens of Massachusetts elected NOBODY to fall in line behind any Senate or House leaders. It was our intent to elect independent thinkers who ensured us that they have our backs. Continually raising taxes is not what was expected. If I want to buy a new house, or car, I reduce spending and save in order to do so! I expect the same from my Representatives.	-

Nothing's changed, I'm sorry to say. At least we can do is knock the 1st and 2nd ones off the list by switching fuels and developing better transportation. Please support all means to help the climate and the air we breathe by supporting the Transportation and Climate Initiative.	-

Private transportation with one person per automobile is a major contributor to greenhouse gases. Inter-city and inter-town public transportation is extremely slow and unreliable. Commuter rail needs to be converted from diesel to electric. Battery electric buses need to replace gas buses. Municipal fleets need to be electrified. Fares need to be accessible to the people who need affordable transit the most, without expectation of public transit paying for itself. People need to get to work. I feel strongly that climate change mitigation is the single most important goal all agencies need to have right now. If we do not act swiftly and decisively NOW then all the other things we like to think are important will just fall by the wayside. We must reduce carbon combustion and encourage sustainable energy and we must plan for the effects of climate change that are already too far along to be immediately stopped. We must commit to bold action TODAY.	-

While individuals driving in gas-powered vehicles is a luxury we can't afford, we must be sure that the carbon footprint of creating more sustainably powered vehicles is not exacerbating the problem. This is a very complex problem in a rural state where people have to travel fair distances for work, shopping and recreation. Hopefully, technological innovation will come up with vehicles with reasonable range that are affordable and don't pollute. We're not there yet, but we need to get started and tackle this issue with a sense of urgency.	-

In doing so we will also be able to help save our planet by... read more We need a much faster and efficient means of getting from one state to another, especially in the Northeast part of our country. In doing so we will also be able to help save our planet by creating these forms of transportation so they will use the most earth friendly forms of energy. The science exists to accomplish this goal - and we will also create many high-paying jobs in the process! My husband and I recently took the Amtrak train from Rochester to Richmond, VA to visit our son. It took an entire day each way which is crazy! Many other countries all over the world have wonderful high speed trains - we can too! We need to make the investment NOW so we can begin to reap the benefits ASAP. This also is possible for other forms of transportation - our cars, buses and airplanes also need to make use of the new green technologies!	-
