Hurricanes are NOT increasing in numbers, Tornadoes are NOT increasing, Wildfires are actually at historic lows (check out Australia during the 70’s, FAR worse fires), and warming we've recently had can be TOTALLY explained as oscillations of the AMO and PDO. We are also WELL within historic warming periods of the Minoan, Roman, and Medieval Warming periods. Current warming is nothing new. Recent research into solar cycles shows that solar cycles actually DO EXACTLY correspond to these natural climate cycles (it's the Sun you fool!). By solar cycles, we are about to enter a Minima period of colder temperatures, starting in the mid 20's, that may last up to 200 years of COLDER temperatures. Anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) is a SCAM meant ONLY to provide an excuse for taxation. This is yet another example of this CORRUPT attempt to CREATE an existential threat, all to fund global (and now local) taxation. I completely oppose this attempt at sliding in a tax based on nothing more than political declarations and failed climate models that have NEVER accurately modeled the natural world.
And tell me how many of the AGW climate change predictions have come true? ZERO!
I will vote to unseat Charlie Baker in the next election; I only hope Massachusetts can produce a candidate worthy of my vote.

Thus all ways of reducing fossil fuel use are urgently needed. Improving publicly available mass transit and regional transit systems is an excellent way to do this. In addition, it will make affordable transportation readily available to many more people. I have traveled extensively in other parts of the world, many of which have far better public transit systems then does the United States. The city of Budapest, Hungary is an excellent example. As a city of 2 million people, not wealthy, it has nonetheless built extensive, readily available subway, light rail, and electric bus mass transit that is affordable. Even large cities in India are rapidly developing local and regional affordable mass transit such as light rail systems. Where available they are preferred transport given how difficult it is to drive automobiles. I grew up in the Boston, Massachusetts area and so was used to one of the earliest and most extensive subway and light rail public transit systems in the United States. It is still very effective. |

We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and raise much needed revenue to modernize our transportation system on a regional scale and we can’t afford to let it slip by! Massachusetts legislators have shown that they’re concerned about the environment through current commitments to curb emissions, the TCI is the next step to ensuring we truly make a difference. Instead of expanding Logan airport, we should be looking for more innovative ways to cap emissions and curb greenhouse gasses. Please strongly consider joining the TCI. As a resident of Maine, I see the lack of accessibility for many of the rural citizens, due to not having any form of public transportation. Those who do not live in the Greater Portland area are restricted to only using a car to get places, and have to travel to the more populated areas which can be expensive if they are lower income. This increase of need to be driving a car increases carbon output and is detremental to the environment, much more than a public transportation. People in northern New England would be willing to utilize affordable public transportation if it was an option. Connecting the mid-Atlantic would also increase people's ability to travel and spend money in other states, which would ultimately boost the economy. Lastly, it would allow people with medical conditions, disabilities or other impairments to access more services in a greater area because there would be accessible and affordable public transportation. Please consider funding this project and allowing residents in even some of the most rural areas to be able to access public transportation. |

Rather than building more roads, we need to concentrate on having greener public transportation that offers services to everyone- everywhere. This includes monorail expansions, electric cars and busses, recharging stations ( possibly electric rent a cars available that could be traded in and out at refueling stations ( akin to getting rested horses for the pony express and horse drawn carriages) Train services needs to increase in the DC, VA, MD area including more railcars and expanded hours in and out of major hubs. |

I would like to drive less and take public transportation more. When states join TCI, they have the opportunity to invest in rural communities where transportation options are limited. Joining TCI would allow Maryland to ensure that rural communities aren’t left behind in the green transition and stuck behind the wheel of costly, inefficient vehicle that are the main source of pollution and green house gasses.. Governor Hogan should push for an ambitious TCI program so that rural communities like mine get the solutions they need. Specifically, we need more Marc train service not just the limited offering of 2020. We need more busses run by clean energy to offer connections to public transportation. We need something like a Monorail service from Shady Grove Metro to Frederick. This is just the area I know about. I know there are lots more.
Since transportation is the largest source of air pollution in our metropolitan regions, we need to build a modern, clean, safe, and accessible and affordable transportation system for the 21st century. Fighting climate change and air pollution requires that we limit pollution from motor fuels. This "fight" will create more jobs , stimulate the economy, and by providing cleaner air save lives. Maryland should join TCI to fund better transportation infrastructure, reduce traffic, and make our state a cleaner, safer place to live.
