TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

New York needs more energy-efficient public transportation and fewer cars. Period.

I am concerned that the cost of my fossil fuels for my car or home are set by dealers in nearby states. If I am in VT and it is NOT a member of the TCI team then I will NOT get some of that money back. We need to join and reap the benefits and not just the costs. The only way that northeast can survive is with a group effort. We need the benefit of balance.

As a member of the Republican party, I strongly support the Transportation and Climate Initiative.

I have grandchildren, and I want them to live long, happy lives, where they don't have to worry about the status of our planet. I want them to have clean air to breathe and safe water to drink. Even though this program may raise gas prices, I think what we have to gain from doing so is more important than a few extra dollars spent.

I think this is a relatively conservative approach to climate change, and is a market based solution, which I appreciate as a conservative. I think that New York should join TCI, and that other states should consider joining as well.

Our outdated transportation system is Maine’s largest source of climate pollution—and it doesn’t even meet the needs of Maine people.
Maine people deserve clean, modern, affordable transportation options that deliver economic, health, and climate benefits to local communities.
It makes sense for Maine to work with neighboring states through TCI’s bipartisan, proven policy model.

I want a cap on carbon emissions of at least 99% by 2032 and an an increase in the minimum investment in overburdened and underserved communities (>99%). I request that investments be put towards active transportation like better sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, and high quality public transit.
Economic and public health modeling to analyze how emissions reductions and investments in low-carbon transportation infrastructure will benefit people, businesses, and communities, particularly communities already bearing disproportionate impacts from pollution and lack of access to economic opportunities.

I am passionate about reducing pollution from transportation, in part because transportation is our largest source of global warming emissions. We are in the midst of a climate crisis, and we need to do everything in our power to reduce emissions in a just way. I urge this plan to include equity at every stage of the process, by ensuring that clean investments are prioritized for communities who are traditionally left out and who face more of the burden from pollution. Corporations need to be held accountable, and the benefits need to be put towards marginalized people. Marginalized/frontline communities need to be consulted at every stage of the process and their voices uplifted. We desperately need to invest in public transportation and make it a better option than personal vehicles.

I am glad to learn that this is a bipartisan effort, and I look forward to following up with the progress of this plan. The Climate Crisis, and the crisis of income inequalities are emergencies, and we need to do something about it now.

I support the TCI policy of taxing gas and other transportation pollution and funding more efficient transportation. First priority for spending the tax money on bolstering public transit should go to populations currently underserved by public transit, both rural and urban. Doing something about the housing crisis in urban centers is also important, so more people can afford to live closer to where they work.

I strongly object to this initiative as it will only raise taxes and kill jobs and do absolutely nothing to stop the climate from changing. The climate has been changing for millions of years and for anyone to think they can affect it is crazy.
