We MUST make it more expensive, so people will choose ways to NOT use it. This is life or death for our children's children. Implement this or a simpler carbon tax, and use the revenue progressively to help those hurt most by it, by returning the money straight back to them. Do not use the money for pet climate projects. Because the most effective and fairest measures are chosen by each of us individually. |

The real economic harm this scheme would do far outweighs the theoretical infinitesimal benefit. Those in government who support money-grabs such as this will be held accountable at the ballot box. |

Adjustment to climate change is no longer a choice, it's a necessity , and we must act immediately to avoid further damage to our planet. TCI will not only curb emissions from the companies most responsible, but the revenue received from the investment portion of the cap-and-invest plan will go into making clean public transportation a more attractive option than driving. Hopefully Connecticut and the rest of the TCI states will become an example of environmentally conscious policy done right. |

As a bike commuter and frequent user of mass transit, I want see less of an investment in our harmful car culture and I want to see the transportation plan cut harmful transportation pollution at the scale needed to avert the climate crisis. We need a plan that holds large transportation polluters accountable for the pollution they create and invests in clean transportation solutions including:
-More public transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas
-Expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets in the suburbs that are safe, walkable, and bikeable
-Sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities
-More protected bike lanes

We need to make a massive transition rapidly to a region that is more walkable; is more accessible to and safer for bikes; has accessible, affordable (even no-cost at the point of service) public transportation such as rail; and subsidizes and provides infrastructure (Eg, charging stations) for electric cars, so long as the grid they plug into does not itself use fossil fuels. |

My generation is going to be facing the worst effects of climate change, and we don't have time to wait. TCI is a great way to incentivize a decrease in emissions, and to generate revenue to fund renewable energy projects.
Transportation is the biggest source of emissions in the Northeast, and is also seriously declining. Our public transportation infrastructure is terrible, and TCI is a great way to not only reduce these emissions, but to get funding to fix our failing transportation infrastructure.
I think that passing TCI would be very beneficial long-term, and could help all of us in the Northeast reach our emission reduction goals. I'd rather pay a few more cents for gas to have a cleaner, safer environment for everyone. TCI will also help to fund the shift to electric vehicles, which is going to happen no matter what, and TCI would help to make that transition smoother and better for everyone. |

We've had to cancel many of our events due to these storms, and because our building is older, its been really hard to keep up with building updates.
I care a lot about the environment, and I think that joining TCI would be a great move to help us mitigate some of the worst effects. As someone who lives in an area where we have to drive everywhere, I think it would be great to have the funds from TCI to reinvest in electric vehicle infrastructure. At the moment, I can't really afford an electric car, but with subsidies from TCI this could be possible. Even if this increasing gas prices in the short term, I'm okay with paying for those if in the long term we are not only saving money on vehicle costs, but are also saving our community's environment.
I think TCI is really needed right now, and I fully support this initiative. |

Those of us in the developed world have done the most to destroy the world's climate so it is our responsibility to rectify this issue. I would impose a carbon tax through higher gasoline taxes, and taxes on emissions. In order to not unduly affect the poor, there should be an unearned income credit. Those who earn more should pay the tax.
In rural states, the tax on gasoline could be imposed in the more highly populated areas of the state. |

Carbox taxes and credits are designed as a secondary currency, which furthers economic discrimination and reduces opportunities for already struggling families to get ahead. Additionally, these "green" energy solutions have known side effects that can be quite dangerous:
- solar panels have been known to leak dangerous chemicals into homes and buildings on which they have been installed
- wind turbines cannot be recycled and are being buried underground
- electric vehicle batteries are being produced by children in countries with lax pr nonexistent child labor laws.
If we really want green energy, the only acceptable resposes are to work toward Tesla's model of free energy, which would also serve to enrich lives by lessening the financial burden of living, or researching thorium-based nuclear energy.
Pollution is a problem. Carbon is not. Any vote for this initiative loses all respect and trust in government from all citizens who see through the chicanery to the disgusting underbelly of what these initiatives will really do - establish complete government control. |
