This will be pouring more money down a rat hole. As a scientist, I have serious questions about the whole global warming theory. We all agree that the earth is warming. The question is man responsible? There is plenty of scientific dissent to the theory, but the dissenting voices are suppressed by the media, who no longer feel the need to give light to ideas that contradict their political orthodoxy. Science is not science when it is politicized. The promoters of this theory would have everyone believe that all scientists agree that CO2 is the cause of global warming. In science, there is almost never complete consensus on anything. |

Taxpayer are already paying for Federal Flood Insurance and Beach replenishment. Instead of always increases taxes find budgets cuts. IE. why do tax payers fund federal flood insurance for millionaire's second homes. Why is the federal government in the business of ensuring second beach homes. Obama Care, Medicare pricing is based on income, same policy should be implemented for Flood Insurance. And if no bath houses, parking or public assess( ie the north end of LBI) stop having tax payers pay. Use that saving for Climate Change. |

It should not be harder to walk, bike, or use transit, than it is to drive. Building only for cars insures congestion that we can never build our way out of, and destroys local downtowns with land dedicated to surface parking.
Driving creates ground-level pollution and results in significant health problems and increased early death. It is our largest single contributor to greenhouse warming gases and so is rapidly escalating the climate crisis. We need policy that favors road diets, safe sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and bus rapid transit lanes. Not only are such policies good for our health and the health of our planet, they are also good for our communities and our local businesses. |

We did this in 2014 and now Governor Baker, who I mistakenly twice voted for, is trying to sneak in a gas tax disguised as a fee. I suggest that he and the Legislature, for that matter, forego this proposed fee and any other attempt to further burden the hard-working citizens of Massachusetts and leave us alone. I also suggest that the names of anyone who continues to work for this fee proposal or any other attempt to raise the gas tax, including the governor, be published, so the voters will know who we have to vote out of office in November. |

How is this even helping the environment. I’ve seen the electric fill-up station at LL Bean. Constantly empty. We car and truck drivers need a tax break. Stop trying to force us, through legislation, to do, act, eat, drive, heat, and live in a way that we don’t want to. This is not progressive. It’s oppressive and authoritarian. |

Wolf please join 11 other states and D.C. to form a regional initiative — the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) — that’s going to limit carbon emissions and significantly reduce pollution from gas-guzzling cars and trucks on heavily trafficked roads. It’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and raise much-needed revenue to modernize our transportation system on a regional scale, which will make it easier for everyone to get around! Thank you. |

The transportation sector accounts for a third of all carbon emissions so we must make changes to this sector to avert the worst of the climate crisis. We need a plan that holds large transportation polluters accountable for the pollution they create and invests in clean transportation solutions including:
- More public transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas,
- Expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets in the suburbs that are safe, walkable, and bikeable,
- Sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities.

Please pass the Transportation and Climate Initiative for Vermont and the region! In rural areas people depend on their cars. A small tax on gas when prices are low is a small price to pay to make progress on decarbonizing transportation and providing more public transportation options for all. |

I am saddened and frustrated by the fact that, despite the excellent urban transit infrastructure, our transit system is not better resourced to communicate with the public, and that trains run so infrequently during non-peak hours and weekends.
Allocating more money to educate the public would increase both ridership and awareness of how mass transit users help decrease everyone's carbon emissions. Better apps to communicate real time arrival of buses, billboards at stations that announce when the next bus or train is expected would greatly minimize the stress of being a mass transit user.
We also need cheaper intercity trains. Adding cheap private buses has been a very popular move, but we need more trains to reduce highway congestion. All this, plus expanding public transit, takes dollars that need to be provided. |
