I am hopeful policy development process could be completed within one year, after which each jurisdiction will decide whether to adopt and implement the policy.
The policy MUST include a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
I am grateful and appreciate the bipartisan nature of this project, despite the Federal government's obscene roll-backs. |

This is a climate crisis, and we must immediately work to address the greatest challenge of our generation.
I support a transportation plan that is focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution while investing in sustainable transportation modes. Bus transit, rail, walking, and biking must be improved across the state, especially in cities and town centers.
This transportation plan is also a land use plan, and we must stop investing in a sprawling, unsustainable development model. Future development in the state must be in cities, town centers, and near transit stations.
We should not be investing in expanding interstates. Expanding our interstates in Connecticut both increases emissions in the long term from induced demand and increased driving while putting development pressure on the state’s dwindling forests and farms.
Many cities and towns in the region have shovel-ready plans to improve transit, rail, and active transportation. We must invest in a future with more people on buses, trains, on foot, and riding bicycles. That future includes more transit-oriented development in walkable communities.
Addressing greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles also means immediate health benefits for our most overburdened populations as a result of improved air quality and fewer emissions of localized pollutants responsible for cancer and respiratory and cardiovascular ailments, among other adverse health impacts. |

It will not take many feet of sea level rise to put vast areas of our country Florida, Cape Cod, New Orleans, Parts of Washington DC, Boston and NYC under water. If we expect to be a "great country" we must take intelligent steps to combat this problem.
And we must expect MANY REFUGEES from other nations that are under water or in some way in climate distress to enter our country demanding help. We must be ready to help. |

TCI will NOT survive a court challenge(outside of Ma.) with neutral judges and honest people.

After he failed to improve with treatment in my office I sent him to the Emergency Department, where he was started on his third course of oral steroids in twelve weeks. He was placed on strong preventative medication to continue indefinitely. In a single clinic day earlier this week I treated three children with Attention Deficit Disorder and one child with a learning disability.
We know from decades of research that air pollution from the combustion of oil and gas for transportation directly harms the health of our children. Air pollution from fossil fuel combustion harms children's lungs, causing asthma attacks and bronchitis, as well as potentially life-long reduced lung capacity. Air pollution also affects our brains, contributing to cognitive and behavioral disorders in children and Alzheimer's disease in adults. Reducing these pollutants is vital to protecting the health and future of our children and all members of our communities.
That is why I strongly support this policy to reduce air pollution from the transportation sector. This policy would have tremendous health benefits through reduced air pollution. By 2032, the public health benefits of the proposed program could reach as much as $10 billion, and reduce as many as 1,000 fewer premature deaths, and over 1,300 fewer asthma symptoms annually.
As a pediatrician, I strongly support the proposed policy. |

I am concerned about climate change, but also concerned that any new policy to drive down emissions be carefully crafted. In Maine, emissions from transportation constitute our largest source of climate change causing pollution. We are largely a rural state, and many of our citizens are not well off. Yet a culture here has evolved where driving large heavy vehicles such as pickup trucks and SUVs is common practice. I believe one measure with potential is to incentivize the purchase of smaller and lighter vehicles without penalizing those who drive larger and heavier ones. If a carbon fee on fuels used for transportation is instituted, it will be important to avoid the kind of backlash we have seen in France. The fee must be large enough to cause a change in consumer habits, but should not be punitive to those who feel they must have a big vehicle. Consumer freedom of choice should prevail, but with attractive savings accruing to those who downsize. Some sort of break for low income people might be one way of achieving emissions reductions without causing a major backlash. |
