TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

Regionally, we need high speed trains like those used for many years in Asia and Europe. We also need to make sure that commuter trains run on schedule so they are convenient for people to use - considering this, we need to balance freight train needs with commuter train needs. On the local level, we need to increase walking, biking and using public transit; regional support or incentives for local changes could help facilitate the changes needed.

I am pleased to learn of the Transportation and Climate Initiative for states in the Northeast, the Mid Atlantic and DC to work together to reduce pollution from transportation. Since fuel emissions are a major contributor to the growing crisis of climate change, I heartily support the coalition and its aims. I think that a plan that reduces emissions and traffic congestion is a great idea. The pollution from traffic has a major impact on health and contributes to any number of diseases. Some areas are overburdened by pollution and other areas suffer from a lack of access to public transportation which adds both traffic congestion and fuel exhaust from private vehicles to the atmosphere. I urge all of the officials to work together to improve the air in this high traffic, highly densely populated corridor. It is heartening to see efforts by state and local leaders to move us forward by improving conditions and reducing carbon emissions despite the federal government 's efforts to move the country backward.

What we need, and we need it now is a many pronged approach to reverse Climate Collapse.
Gas, Coal, Fracking & Oil, in all their forms, are a deadly addiction, we can no longer afford.
Every step toward eliminating our carbon footprint should be taken and taken now.

Dear Gov. Scott, please join the TCI. It is an important opportunity for Vermont to take responsible, effective action to address our unsustainable use of fossil fuels. Vermonters will end up paying for this regional agreement whether or not you enroll us. We should receive some financial benefit, especially if the benefit is used to help people with low incomes as has been proposed by VPIRG and others. By joining TCI, you would demonstrate your commitment to not only the environment but also to the people in Vermont who most need help. This action could offset some of the negative perceptions you have generated by recent vetoes of parental leave and minimum wage legislation. Thanks very much!

What is the cost to Vermont to participate? How will the State generate the revenue to pay for it? vr Brent Abare

I want a cap on carbon emissions of at least 99% by 2032 and an an increase in the minimum investment in overburdened and underserved communities (>99%). I request that investments be put towards active transportation like better sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, and high quality public transit.

I am wholeheartedly in favor of encouraging the use of Pittsburgh city buses for commuting by reducing travel and wait times. I would also like diesel buses replaced with electric ones (both city buses and school buses).

Maine is not a big booming state. we work to afford the lives we live, and we can’t afford these ridiculous proposed travel price increases. our governor needs to take her ego down a notch, get off her pedestal, and start working on making maine a better, easier place to live for the people who have grown up here.
