If such draconian measures are required to allieviate the purported "climate change" emergency, then let it be done at the national level, in the light of day. Rather than target the middle clas, perhaps instead you should add confiscatory taxes to luxury cars, first-class airplane seats, yachts, and luxury homes in Swampscott, Louisberg Square and Hyannisport. |

We repealed the automatic gas tax increase at the ballot box in 2014 by a margin of 53-47. All new taxes are supposed to originate in the House of Representatives not with the Governor. We need to see which of our elected office holders are in favor of this disastrous initiative and hold them responsible at the ballot box. Enough of these crazy schemes! Just look to California to see what it has done to the price of a gallon of gas over now over $4.00.

To us, it will merely be a cost increase, with no good outcome. I founded and distribute a FREE weekly newspaper across northern Rhode Island. We sell advertising in person. We gather news, face to face. (Collecting news electronically is a poor substitute). Finally, we deliver those newspapers.
Your efforts will cost the company more money, which will translate to smaller annual raises and profit-share funds to my employees. They will earn less, and spend more on the gasoline they need to do their jobs.
If your hope is to gather more money, you will succeed. If you hope is to lower the use of fossil fuels, you will fail.
Frankly, I think you know that already.
Secondarily, I urge you to consider the impact on a single mom out there. You are simply cutting her pay and hurting her family. So many of the same political officials behind TCI claim to care for poorer people. What nonsense! People see right through this.

Hurricanes are NOT increasing in numbers, Tornadoes are NOT increasing, Wildfires are actually at historic lows (check out Australia during the 70’s, FAR worse fires), and warming we've recently had can be TOTALLY explained as oscillations of the AMO and PDO. We are also WELL within historic warming periods of the Minoan, Roman, and Medieval Warming periods. Current warming is nothing new. Recent research into solar cycles shows that solar cycles actually DO EXACTLY correspond to these natural climate cycles (it's the Sun you fool!). By solar cycles, we are about to enter a Minima period of colder temperatures, starting in the mid 20's, that may last up to 200 years of COLDER temperatures. Anthropomorphic global warming (AGW) is a SCAM meant ONLY to provide an excuse for taxation. This is yet another example of this CORRUPT attempt to CREATE an existential threat, all to fund global (and now local) taxation. I completely oppose this attempt at sliding in a tax based on nothing more than political declarations and failed climate models that have NEVER accurately modeled the natural world.
And tell me how many of the AGW climate change predictions have come true? ZERO!
I will vote to unseat Charlie Baker in the next election; I only hope Massachusetts can produce a candidate worthy of my vote.

Taxing gas to provide charging facilities for electric vehicles, often operated free of charge, is particularly agregious and a misappropriation of private property. In my opinion, electric vehicles and their batteries do more environmental damage in rural areas like Maine because the batteries require more energy to produce and are more difficult to recycle without hurting the environment. In low density areas like ours, the slight air pollution of modern gas and diesel vehicles is less an issue than recycling electric vehicle batteries. |
