We should adopt this change to a clean transportation power source as soon as possible. Another obvious use for electric vehicles is the delivery of USPS mail. These vans are stop-and-go vehicles, used only in daytime hours, and could be recharged each night. Do states have any control of federal vehicles driven in their boundaries? |

Some estimates suggest that TCI would add another $0.20/gallon to the cost of gasoline; $3 per fill up! Don't do it.
Don't let people outside Maine decide how much we get taxed. These kinds of invasive decisions should be left to the people in congress that we can hold accountable with our votes.
Maine ranks 33rd in median household income. Maines largest cities have 70,000, 40,000, and 35,000 people. Our "urban centers" are not comparable to urban centers in MA, CT, NY, etc. High paying professional jobs are far and few between around Maine. Don't make it even worse by making it harder to do business or afford to live here.
No more taxes. No more fees. No more assessments. No more fines for being alive. |

However, unspoken is the fact that the eventual burden of all 'cap and trade' or 'cap and invest' schemes is born by consumers who bear the cost through passed-through price increases, while those who have historically benefited greatly are the extractive industries themselves which have actively pursued policies deliberately designed to deny, deceive and distort the political process for decades concerning the cause and scope of global climate change. The cost of addressing climate change today is considerably more than it would be had we not been subjected to decades of delay perpetrated by the fossil fuel industry itself. Nothing in the TCI framework addresses this gross injustice. Nowhere in the TCI framework is there any mechanism for the extraction industries to bear or to share the "externalized" costs resulting from the sale and use of their products, or to provide compensation for the damage they have already done. |

This unconstitutional end run around congress and the voters to force yet another tax on the people shall not stand. It will be fought on every front; Courts, polling stations, media and in the streets. These phony baloney excuses to punish the poorest among us on a product we all must buy is a lie on it's face. The ice caps on Mars and Europa are melting at the same rate they are here on Earth. My V8 might burn a lot of gas, but it is not changing the weather on Mars and the moons of Jupiter. I realize our alleged "representatives" count on the ignorance, laziness and stupidity of the voters, but this time, it's not going to happen. |

I request that Rhode Island formally join the plan to reduce emissions. I further request that the plan include a strong component of equity through prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. I further request that both flexibility and sustainability get prioritized so that technological advancements be implemented in such a method that aging doesn't lead to avoidable pollution but instead to recycling solutions and/or additional technological implementations. I am grateful for the "can do" attitude and the bipartisan nature of this project. |

It is way past time for developing clean, modern transportation solutions. These efforts will stimulate the economy, create jobs, improve our lives, and help clean up our environment. The bipartisan nature of this project makes me more hopeful for the future. The states need to take us forward since the current federal is taking us backward.

As compared with other industrialized countries, our transit infrastructure is inconvenient, overcrowded, largely obsolete and often dank and dirty. It's a disgrace and leads people to drive far more than they should need to - which in turn results both to excessive carbon emissions and personal stress. A plan like the one here envisioned is a good remedial starting place. When fleshed out, it could potentially transform our living standard much for the better. |

Adoption of TCI will usher in a new economy with substantial economic, health, and environmental benefits by transitioning to cleaner and more efficient transportation options.
Maine can’t miss this opportunity to invest in solutions to help Maine people safely get to where they need to go that are both affordable and good for the environment.
Mainers deserve new options that result in cleaner air and healthier choices. Pouring pollution into the air and sending our hard-earned money out of state to line the pockets of the fossil fuel industry is not the best path forward for our economy.
Maine needs an ambitious plan to reduce climate-changing transportation pollution. Working together with neighboring states to give Maine hundreds of millions of dollars it can invest here at home just makes sense.
Adopting TCI will further the mission of saving our precious planet for our children. |

We are not headed for the Apocalypse. The best true science, as reported by real research institutions and the IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] predict moderate warming and slow sea level rise over the coming century, with small economic impacts.
There will be extreme events including droughts, storms, and floods; but these will not increase greatly in frequency or severity. The most significant thing about the past decade is the massively increased number of video cameras on cell phones, ready to capture dramatic footage.
Zoning laws and building codes should be changed to limit construction of buildings on beach dunes for example, or housing developments built on filled-in salt marshes. Zoning policy should encourage placing residences close to public transportation and to workplaces.
Electricity generation should not only include "wind farms" and "solar farms" but much more important, we should start expanding the amount of electricity generated by nuclear plants. Please note that in spite of some dramatic accidents, nuclear power is still the safest and cleanest of all our power sources. We need energy diversity, so coal plants should be kept operational.
According to most climate models, the equator will warm only slightly while temperate and arctic winters will be much milder. |

Many of us can not afford an increase like this, as it effects everything that we purchase from food to clothing to building materials, EVERYTHING!
