Any policy that would require a permitting fee by a gasoline facility would be a hidden tax that would be passed on to the every day user thereby raising gas prices to too high prices. Maine is already carbon neutral. Electric cars are not going to help this and they are not an effective year round mode of transportation esp on fridgid days. To tax facilities that sell or provide gas is unfairly and non-transparently taxing individuals that choose to continue with gas powered autos etc as a safer option of transportation

Queen of Maine mills has found perhaps another way of scamming the good people of Maine of hard earned money. Turning this great State into another California is not what the people here want.

The last thing we need in Pennsylvania is more regulations. Call Harrisburg to get an answer on sales tax or motor fuel taxes. There are so many rules at this point the state employees can not even follow them. Simplify the laws and regulations, let the market dictate fuel usage. Electrics are coming, sooner than later the tides will shift.

Maine needs diverse energy efficient public transportation. Mass transportation will lower emissions especially if the mass transportation is also energy efficient. LL Bean started this in Acadia National Park with it's shuttle service and it is working well. Follow what works before it is too late.

Gov Mills, please do not lead Maine into joining this initiative. This is going to raise gas prices and hurt Mainers.

Engine manufactures continue to refine and improve the entire fuel system to meet the US EPA air quality mandates set forth for particulate and greenhouse gases emissions. These improvements include technologies in both gasoline and diesel vehicles engines.

I am not opposed to electric vehicles as a matter of an individuals choice of options for transportation. However, I am opposed to subsidizing only electric vehicles at the expense of other fuel efficient modes of transportation.

Bio Fuels must play an important role in reducing the carbon foot print of gasoline and diesel to further reduce both NOX and particulate matter. Bio Fuels are readily available in the supply chain today while the electric vehicle charging stations are far from being available.

If a tax is charged on gasoline and diesel, an equal amount of the monies collected must be proportionally allocated to electric, gasoline, diesel, and renewable energy sources.

The elderly have already been punished by this governor when she denied funding to Maine’s nursing homes. The youth, poor and elerly will suffer greatly with a gasoline tax, not those who can afford it, which only occupy the southern quarter of the state. Many travel over 30 miles to get prescriptions or groceries. Perhaps if we had 150 million savings in the bank still we could earmark some for energy, but Maine is a poor state with older Mainers making up the largest amount of the population. Maine is also the cleanest state, so this is a burden Mainers can't support over their own housing, food, heating fuel and medication. The governors’ total disregard for Mainers welfare and finances is alarming. We can't afford to be California, and neither can California.

This is nothing but a new tax disguised in an attempt to defraud the people of our states. My state, Maine is a rural state without a practical public transportation system outside of the urban centers. The necessary fuel price increases under this scheme will be an extreme hardship for our rural poor. It will also harm agricultural, marine, transportation and manufacturing interests, making Maine an even less attractive place to create jobs.
