We have towns. There are are no metropolitan areas. Trucks and cars are the best ways to get around. Mass transit will not work. Buses help but even then are limited. We don't have the finances personally to pay for this alliance. It is a bust! Please I beg you don't consider this!	-

Primarily, I believe we need increased passenger trains and all electric buses and cars. I fear that without rapid improvement in this and many other areas, we will face a climate emergency within 10 or 20 years, and our children's lives will be terribly harmed. This could possibly force another Maine small business have to shut its doors. I am 21 years young and after about ten years of hoping I would get to this point I don’t want to have to give up on my dream because of the cost of fuel. The only thing it will do is force company’s to up the price for their services this will not solve a darn thing because the big big companies can afford to pay more money small Maine businesses like mine cannot afford to. Janet mills is bad for Maine and for Maine small businesses	-

The onerous tax load on Maine's middle class and poor will be increased to an unacceptable level should gas prices increase as expected. Just recall, if you will, some years ago when gas prices rose, and the concomitant decimation of businesses. Unrealistic goals which harm so many voters should be rejected out of hand. Quite apart from the effect on businesses for which gasoline is a major part, someone who works, as I do, traveling from house to house helping Mainers live in their homes, will be dealt a blow which will make our already low wage worth even less. If something like this is considered, it should be AFTER public transportation has been improved, NOT before. Even then, the rural character of Maine makes private transportation necessary. Most of us cannot afford electric cars, even if we would choose to use something which has NOT been proven to be best for our environment, given the terrible environmental costs of those batteries. Please withdraw Maine from this bad deal.	-

We have a large senior citizens who live on social security. It is not unusual for seniors to travel 10 or more miles for medical appointments. Many residents travel 15 or more miles for work,and 10 or more miles for groceries. Are you going to put citizens out of work? Are you going to put seniors who will not get medical care because they cannot afford gas? How is putting a high tax on gas really going to help the Climate Initiative? Let's use common sense, and do not punish the people of Maine with additional taxes.	-

This tax would cost us too much. Many of our citizens are older and on fixed incomes this will hurt them the most. Electric vehicles have enough incentives they get tax credits to buy them and they do not even have to pay road taxes this should be enough. We also have alot of generators that run on diesel in a state where when your power goes out it could be out weeks this is an unnecessary burden. We are also are a forested state so I feel that our co2 foot print is lower than other states in this pact. I feel that we are so rural that investments i public transportation will only be helpful in southern Maine and maybe 3 cities beyond that. Maine is more than just Portland. Please don't do this we are already at the breaking point with no way to make up these increases if there is much more we will have to sell and move out of Maine.	-

Those that are able to will have no choice but to move to another state, those who can't will have to rely on more public assistance to make ends meet.
