Dear Governor Scott,
I feel that it is imperative that Vermont join the TCI-P. The program needs to achieve three critical needs: it must strengthen the Vermont economy, reduce carbon pollution, and address equity – specifically the needs of communities that are overburdened by fossil fuel pollution and underserved by cleaner transportation options. Please support this.

I am writing in support of Vermont joining the TCI-P. Transportation is Vermont's single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, and it is the second-largest expense for Vermont households. Let's join the program and use the funds to give Vermonters better transit and other transportation options. Driving solo is burdening our finances and burdening the climate.

At a time when government over spending is about to drive society into server inflation, the last thing citizens of the Northeast need is increases in taxes on fossil fuels. The Global warming Solutions Act in Vermont is yet another hamstring move to force our hands into these over the top climate alarmist moves. There are more human centric issues that require our attention. Perhaps spending money on electrical infrastructure first would be a positive move, before you cut off your nose to spite your face.

I fully support this equitable transportation program. This is something that Vermonters need now and to protect Vermont’s future.

Dear Governor Scott - It is hard to come to grips with the enormity of the Climate Emergency that we are trapped in. Yes, the heating of the planet will rise exponentially in the near future, but we have to do what we can now to mitigate and adapt to the assault on the earth's environment and peoples. We also must prepare for a different future for our children and grandchildren then we have lived. GHG's are 40% of the problem and are best dealt with now in a vigorous way. We have waited too long to deal with fossil fuels and programs like TCI are part of the first steps for taking the challenge to mitigate the consequences of our industrial age. And Remember we also have to treat our forests and soils differently. It will take more time to increase the health and sequestration of our working and natural lands, but we need to start now. I support a strong TCI as a response to the climate crisis and the need to decarbonize the economy in a time when transportation shares such a high contribution to emissions. In addition, resources should be allocated in a way that achieves other benefits, too, such as improving air quality in the communities with the worst air now, typically low-income and minority communities, and saving overall healthcare costs for low-income communities, and potentially reducing public health costs as well.

Please...invest in cleaner more equitable transportation...putting a brake on carbon emissions!!

The TCI-P is crucial to reducing our impact on the planet since transportation is one of the biggest challenges Vermonters have to reducing their impact. With such a rural state, we need to get creative with how we can reduce our impact while transporting ourselves from location to location. TCI-P heavily supports this idea, and would be great to see it get passed.

I urge the Vermont Legislature and Go. Scott to sign on to the TCI-P initiative. It is critical we provide momentum to this key effort not just to save the planet, but because it will invigorate our economy in the short term as well. I also hope Vermont will join the effort to address disparities by setting aside significant revenue to balance inequities in impact.
