View Public Input on TCI-P

Please don't pass TCI in Virginia. As I've lived in Virginia, one of the ways that my family has been able to make ends meet is the affordable energy prices compared to California, specifically gas prices are much more affordable. I understand that revenue raised will go to specific industries that may or may not be effective at discovering better energy efficiency. Also, I've read that there will be marginal climate change prevention. So it's a bad policy.

This plan is exceptionally costly, and provides virtually no environmental impact, even with the most optimistic projections. It will impact lower income and minority citizens much more negatively than anyone else. Stop this plan. Virginia at least must avoid this insanity!!

There is NOTHING else more important than protecting the air that we breathe and the planet on which we reside. Human beings can change, but to do so, we must put aside greed and selfishness, and make solid changes that protect the Earth and all its inhabitants, great and small. In other words, we must EVOLVE. Transportation must change. Fossil fuels are endangering our welfare, our air, and our lands. We need clean cars, we need better public transportation, we need to get dirty automobiles/trucks off the roads, and increase investments in an equitable, cleaner, and more resilient transportation system. The transportation sector accounts for HALF of Virginia’s carbon footprint, making it our largest contributor by far to climate change, thus, here is where we must begin to change. I hope that the human race is smart enough to act on this. This is our future.

WE DO NOT NEED A 50 CENT INCREASE IN GAS=THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO MAKE US DEPENDENT ON THEM=NO WAY

I am writing to you as a co-founder of Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS). Our organization started in a church basement in Oakton, Virginia seven years ago. Today, we have close to 3,000 supporters drawn from nearly 100 congregations, temples, and mosques throughout Northern Virginia. No matter our faith traditions, FACS activists believe that addressing climate change is an urgent moral responsibility.
We know that transportation is one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas (GhG) pollution in Virginia and the region. Dangerous particulates that cause health problems like asthma flow from gasoline and diesel. Particulate pollution especially impacts those near major roads, which often include lower income and minority communities.
We need to move to a clean transportation system and a clean-energy economy.
FACS strongly supports a muscular TCI-P Model Rule that both ensures meaningful climate action to address Virginia's GhG pollution from the transportation sector, directs significant investments to correcting historic inequities in overburdened and underserved communities; and affords Virginia the opportunity for a cleaner, healthier transportation system.
TCI-P will greatly help Virginia and the region improve air quality, lower health care costs, reduce GhG pollution, and generate revenue for other environmental initiatives to further accelerate our progress.
For these reasons, we urge the adoption of a strong TCI-P Model Rule and urge you to act for the benefit of all generations.

This is nothing more than the creation of a bloated bureaucracy.

If you want to reduce pollution, tax the source of the pollution: fuel. Period. Increased taxes on fossil fuel will eventually make 'green' power more affordable and it will do it in a controlled fashion without the waste associated with your bloated bureaucracy.

Incentives for home owners to install roof top solar power would be a nice addition to fuel taxes.

We in Virginia do NOT need this approach to pollution reduction.
