Please do not raise the tax on gas. Most of us are having trouble paying what the price is now. You will raise prices on everything we use to live. How do you expect us to do this when our income is not raised accordingly. We are retired and this will make our lives harder.

I’m opposed to Virginia joining the TCI. It will cost consumers and businesses too much at the gas pump and have a negative impact on average citizens, truckers, and businesses alike. This has the same effect as a 50 cent direct tax at the pump for every gallon of gas for all Virginians using fuel and a consequent dampening effect on our economy. Please do not sign on to this TCI Initiative.

I am opposed to TCI because it has all the appearance of a bureaucratic nightmare.
What I have read is that it raises prices on consumer goods such as gasoline, requires endless paperwork by gas station franchises, and accomplishes no real environmental benefits.
In the end all it does is to create a pot of tax money that is funneled into pork barrel projects that are unrelated to improving the environment.
I recommend that Virginia not be part of another ultra-left boondoggle.

Coming out of a 14 month pandamic, you are proposing an increase to our gas that is already seen a $.50 increase because of our President's careless actions to restrict the oil and gas industry. My husband and I live on a fixed income, one that cannot absorb a $1.00 increase in gas. We do not have the infrastructure to move away from gas driven vehicles, even if we wanted to. You govern a state that is not 100% left and you need to consider the fact that almost half of the state is conservative and this is an election year.
We do not need to belong to any organization that increase the costs in our daily life without having any direct improvement in the environment, by the way, the US is one of the cleanest countries in the world. Stop this crazy action.

Transportation emissions are a huge driver of climate change, accounting for nearly half of Virginia’s carbon output, while also emitting toxic air pollution that falls disproportionately on low-income populations and communities of color.

The Transportation and Climate Initiative Program (TCI-P) is a welcome step forward to addressing this major source of pollution, while steering needed investments in a modern, sustainable transportation system.

Funding provided by the TCI-P could help with ongoing efforts to put more electric vehicles on the road in Virginia along with equitably distributed charging infrastructure across the state.

The TCI-P also presents the opportunity to drive investments in a cleaner transportation system in the communities that have suffered the most from vehicle pollution. While the model rule calls for at least 35 percent of TCI proceeds to go toward frontline, impacted communities, here in Virginia I would hope we go above and beyond that benchmark, investing at least half of our TCI revenue in programs and infrastructure that will lower this disproportionate pollution burden.

I hope this important framework moves forward for the good of our climate, our health and our future.
