TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

Please remember that we are not the only species on this planet. We share the Earth with other species, and we should be mindful of that.

I care about reducing our carbon footprint and emissions on account of transportation -- we owe this to future generations.
I would request that NY state formally join the plan to reduce emissions.
The policy should have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.
I am grateful for the bipartisan nature of this project, moving us forward while the federal government takes us backward.

It is the right thing to do for all future generations to end our dependence on dirty fuels and have great transportation.

Climate change is a pressing issue, and it makes sense for Maine to work with neighboring states through TCI’s bipartisan, proven policy model, to address contributing transportation factors in our region. The plan that states are developing can reduce pollution, expand public transportation, encourage use of electric cars, trucks and buses, and develop safe ways for people to walk and bike in small towns and rural areas through a clean transportation fund. We know this approach works because over the past 10 years, Northeastern states have done the same thing with the electric sector through RGGI. We created jobs, grew our economy, and reduced our pollution. Now, we have the same opportunity with TCI. The Maine Public Health Association supports this effort because Maine people deserve safe, clean, equitable, modern transportation solutions that are affordable, reliable, and reduce air pollution.

I write as a citizen who is aware that our region, our country, and the entire world are at grave risk of incurring more and more dangerous and expensive climate disasters. I want to see my child and grandchildren living in a world that is not under the threat of increased wildfires, floods, drought, refugee crises, and so on. I urge my state of New Hampshire to join in a regional clean transportation plan. Since transportation makes up over 40 percent of our region's global warming emissions, reducing these emissions will be an effective way to reduce our contribution to that warming. In addition to warming the planet, emissions also have enormous and costly ill effects on our health.
No single state can solve the problem alone, and the transportation systems of our region are intertwined. We have the ability to create a regional solution that will help alleviate climate change, improve the health of our region--thereby saving millions in healthcare costs--and provide new jobs in clean energy fields.
This is a bipartisan issue that has the potential to affect all of us, and thus I again urge our governing officials to get behind the clean transportation initiative.

I would love to see: More choice of less expensive electric cars; advertising to shame rich people into stop driving huge, gas wasting cars; recharging stations at every rest stop on all major highways.(A family could stop and have a snack while charging their car. Knowing charging stations stations would be available would make people more comfortable moving to all electric cars.)
I drove to the rich western suburbs of Boston on Feb. 20, 2020. I watched carefully as I drove. I saw 1 hybrid car and 1 Tesla. The rest of the cars were very expensive cars, some V6’s and some V8’s !! I see this as shameful !! How are these people so ignorant !!
Otherwise, we need to make all forms of public transportation buses, trains, and subways all electric ASAP. Thank you for all you do.
