Do not pass the TCI!
We do not need any more costs burdened on the taxpayer. Increases in gas ripple through and raise all other costs of living.
All government cost increases must be run thru the legislature and not occur automatically.

No one will die on the streets if we cut taxes one dollar as Michael Dukakis said. If you need extra monies consider the following:
We certainly have existing programs that can be scaled down or eliminated.
We should not be allowing double collection of pensions
Pensions and wages need to be more in alignment with those in the private sector
Stop funding illegal aliens Housing, welfare, medical, and any other related costs
Fully investigate welfare for fraud
Investigate expenditures
We do not have a funding problem, we have a spending problem!

I am very concerned about global warming. We are now experiencing the warmest winter (so far) within memory. While it's comfortable, I know that this is not good.

This doesn't take a lot of words. We are in a CLIMATE EMERGENCY! There is more an more evidence accumulating day by day, week by week in the form violent, historic storms, fires, loss of species and forested land, melting of our polar ice caps. etc. In addition, the majority of scientists who research matters related to climate change are in agreement that there has been a precipitous increase in the rate of climate change since the beginning of the industrial age and particularly since the middle of the 20th century, due to man made CO2 emissions. It is estimated we have about 10 years to turn this trend back or we face potentially irreversible global warming and disastrous effects to plant and animal life, and therefore, human life. We need a dramatic reduction in the emissions produced by private, public and commercial transportation.

“…design a regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal that would cap and reduce carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanism… [and]… to complete the policy development process within one year, after which each jurisdiction will decide whether to adopt and implement the policy.”

 

Anyone who has driven around any of the the major metropolitan areas and suburbs in the Northeast US knows that traffic has become unbearable, especially during rush hours. The need for better infrastructure, e.g. improved and expanded roads, better bridges, etc, as well as improvements in public transportation to get more vehicles off the roads is obvious. A plan that would improve all of these aspects would not only reduce traffic on our roads, but would lead to improved quality of life for everyone, reduced consumption of fossil fuels, and better air quality. Therefore, I fully support the Transportation and Climate Initiative.

I support the initiative. I wish the goals were even more ambitious. I hope the final program takes the necessary steps to avoid being a regressive tax having disproportionate impact on those less fortunate.

Hello, we are seventh grade students from Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School in Springfield New Jersey. We have created a policy to help the issue of unsafe drinking water in New Jersey. Please support our policy by signing our petition to help protect everyone in the state of New Jersey from dangerous chemicals in their water. Our policy is (YPSWI) The Yearly Public School Water Inspection. This policy insures that all public schools will have clean water, and a water test would be conducted annually. Some disadvantages are that it would cost a lot of money, and this policy is only regulated for public schools and tax-supported charter schools in the state in New Jersey. The advantages are that it would protect students from harmful chemicals at schools, no matter what the town’s financial stance is. The level of government responsible for carrying out this law is State government. State government is responsible because it is supporting all of the tax-funded schools in New Jersey. We would ask Senator Kean to represent New Jersey and propose this policy in the state Senate. If that law gets passed through the General Assembly and gets to Governor Christie and he signs it into law, it would then be up to Kimberly Harrington; Commissioner of Education; and Bob Martin; Commissioner of Natural resources; to enforce this policy in the state. As said in the New Jersey Constitution, “All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for the protection, security, and benefit of the people, and they have the right at all times to alter or reform the same, whenever the public good may require it.” Everyone should be entitled to the benefit of clean drinking water and it is up to our government to protect this natural resource. Clean drinking water is something that the public needs.

A Trump administration aide said in an email that releasing a water contamination report would cause a “public relations nightmare.” So they buried it.

I support the TCI because our state and country needs to invest in clean transportation options in order to reduce green house gas emissions and improve the respiratory health of our citizens. Please take this opportunity for Connecticut to lead in this important effort.
