I personally drive over 400 miles per week if not more to work and school. The price of fuel is already unbearable, adding an additional tax will inhibit me from pursuing my career path, and providing for my family. I need a truck for what I do; building materials, groceries, tools, and more. I need to plow my driveway in the winter, have you ever seen a plow on a Prius? If you raise the taxes it will cost more to transport your beloved illegal aliens to your beloved sanctuary cities, then the local law enforcement, fire and EMS services will not have enough money budgeted to cover the increased number if calls. Great idea if you want to see people run for the hills like they are in New York under the Mook Governor Coumo... Massachusetts is not far behind, and here we go, Maine...we were on our way to better days and then they elected you...Janet Mills....do not move forward with this plan. It is a terrible idea, will only have a negative impact on Maine and Mainer's and will destroy what is left of a beautiful state to satisfy the needs of the liberal masses. |

However, I must stand against TCI, for I feel that TCI is tantamount to taxation without representation, the very dynamic which had made life under British rule intolerable. If other states had followed our lead, the problem would not have not led to suggesting such a dangerous change in governmental policy. Perhaps working with other states, we could encourage and help them to adopt some of the initiatives that we have taken, so as to increase their use of renewable energy. I strongly believe that it is Governor Charlie Baker's duty, as an elected official, to bring his proposal of adopting TCI policy to the Massachusetts legislature for a vote. |

1. It is a de facto tax masquerading as fee to bypass the normal democratic process of enacting a tax. In other words, TCI is taxation without representation, and no amount of fancy words or legal manipulation changes that.
2. TCI is based on unproven assumptions about human-caused climate change. The science is not settled! At a minimum, this is still a highly controversial issue and therefore not one upon which a tax should be based. Indeed, the eagerness to create a tax based on this so-called science reveals the true agenda of the climate change hysterics, which is economic restructuring toward socialism and a "new world order."
3. Even aside from the first two reasons, TCI is economically harmful. Low and middle-class workers, along with business owners, will bear the burden most acutely.
For these reasons, I urge the TCI be abandoned. Thank you. |

There is not enough public transportation especially in rural areas, and someone who travels likes me for my job and am on the road all day traveling from place to place , because I am in the service business. This will increase the cost of my service, thus it will be passed onto my customers. Not all of us can afford to buy very expensive electric vehicles and it is not fair that only a few who already can afford it get benefits of rebates at the expense of the little hard working people. |

I have been retired for almost 3 years and have a fixed income. I want to know why I should have to pay for additional taxes on gas to help reduce carbon emissions ? I do not believe in Global Warming and very angry with politicians trying to ram it down my throat. Being on a fixed income I cannot afford increases every year for the government to put charging stations in Southern Maine. That is discrimination against every retired person in this state. Mills has done nothing for the state of Maine since she got in there except setting a new record for spending money. There are many people that live in rural areas in Maine and we should not have to finance anything that we don't believe in, especially the retiree's living on a fixed income. Maybe Mills wants me to go back to work and work until I die. That way she could bring in some more immigrants. As you can see I am extremely upset, but do not worry because I know nobody cares about my opinion and all the bleeding heart Liberals will have there way and drive 50% of the Maine population into bankruptcy . Have a nice day !!! P.S I will probably have to start burning coal again so I can afford to pay my extra gas taxes. Oh well so much for carbon emissions. |
