TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

It’s important that Pennsylvania take the steps to initiate this policy in the next few years. To effectively battle climate change, we need to take drastic measures in the next decade. This can be done through this policy for low carbon transportation options and enhancements to current multi-modal option. As a bicyclist, I often hear the reason for others not to ride is because they don’t feel safe on the roads. This policy would help build out a safer, connected bike infrastructure throughout the region. Furthermore, those don’t take the bus in Pittsburgh due to the lengthy ride or number of transfers. Again, building this infrastructure out will only make this form of transportation easier and more readily accessible for everyone. We need to cut down on single driver trips. We can do this and improve bike as well as mass transportation by passing this policy.

I support this initiative whole heartedly, regardless of its affects on consumer prices. Furthermore, I support those individuals that continue to push policy that promotes green industry.

I am wholeheartedly in favor of encouraging the use of Pittsburgh city buses for commuting by reducing travel and wait times. I would also like diesel buses replaced with electric ones (both city buses and school buses).

Everything should be done to encourage a move from fossil fueled vehicles to all electric vehicles for so many reason; air pollution and emissions is foremost. My husband, son, and I all drive Teslas. I have a Model X and they each drive Model 3s. I have noticed how I have become more sensitive to the odors of gasoline and its exhaust. I am disappointed that there seems to be a dearth of Tesla Superchargers in the vicinity of PECO; however, that is another topic.
I recommend that State and National Park Rangers drive EVs because of their close contact with people enjoying fresh air and nature (not exhaust). I also recommend that state and local police officers drive Teslas because of their 0 - 60 speed, overall speed and quick stopping. Our use of fossil fuels must be decreased drastically to slow down the effects of climate change and global warming.

We must not delay in implementing clean energy wherever we can in order to save the planet while there is still time.

I would like the Commonwealth of PA to join the plan to design a regional low-carbon transportation policy proposal capping and reducing carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels using a cap-and-invest program or other pricing mechanism. I am hopeful policy development process could be completed within one year, after which each jurisdiction will decide whether to adopt and implement the policy.

The policy MUST include a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.

I am grateful and appreciate the bipartisan nature of this project, despite the Federal government's obscene roll-backs.

We as a nation have prioritized private automobile transportation as the default option for both local and long distance trips. That choice has resulted in road congestion, pollution, overdependence on fossil fuels, and a failure to make public transportation widely accessible and affordable. It is imperative that we shift our attention and funding to methods of public transportation that will increase our mobility and reduce damage to the planet.
