TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

As an Independent voter I'd like to voice my strong opposition to this initiative. Anyone that supports it will not get a vote from me in the future (and if it doesn't go to a house vote, then no one currently in office will).
This won't result in any reduction of carbon output, only punish the hardworking residents in the state

Massachusetts voters defeated an automatic gas tax increase a few years ago and now the bureaucrats and political hacks want to push this through by fiat without a public vote. How typical of the ruling elites on Bacon Hill to circumvent the will of the people. Massachusetts residents already pay too much in gas taxes for so poor a return - our roads are riddled with potholes and are in hideous shape. Undoubtedly the money generated by this so-called initiative will disappear through corruption and taxpayers will be asked to pay more, again. If this new tax is forced upon the public without their voting on it, it must and will be challenged in court

I am totally against this TCI initiative. It is another attempt to raise taxes in general, and this is not a good thing for Massacusetts.

It would be in the best interests of the state and any policy maker/pusher involved to distance themselves from this initiative.

Without the benefit of a public vote, the enactment of TCI would not be supported by taxpayers and may be in violation of state tax law.
Further, TCI would be a regressive act, disproportionally punishing lower income workers who commute to work. Aren’t there other ways to address a global issue than to raise the cost of living for US citizens via a new revenue schemes?

As a tractor trailer driver, any extra taxes will increase food and clothing costs for everyone. A tax on fuel and gas won't do anything for the climate.

Another attempt to thwart the democratic process and ignore the will of the people by a bunch of unelected bureaucrats whose only goal is to increase their own power at the expense of the people. If this is such a great idea, why are they afraid of the people's elected representatives voting on a tax increase? I am not opposed to a gas tax increase in principle, but debate it in the light of day, in the Legislature, not by skulking through a labyrinth of bureaucratic offices, hidden from the people!

I will soon be leaving Massachusetts where I’ve lived for 62 years. I can no longer abide by the wanton disregard that our corrupt politicians have for the people they are supposed to serve. this new “gas tax” is only the latest example of their disdain for working people. I pity those that don’t have the choice to leave or stay.

Poor management, waste and bloated pay and benefits needs to be addressed and cannot be fixed with more taxes. The RMV, State Police, and Rail Systems are a joke.

I am retired, and ANY increase in the gasoline tax or adding some lame carbon tax idea affects my ability to survive in this state. While local taxes and fees have continued to rise, it seems that the Governor and the Massachusetts Legislature are always looking for ways to take more money from my household.
This is not some abstract concept or idea, it is reality. Many retirees are just hanging on by a thread. We can't afford to buy electric vehicles, nor can we realistically be expected to maintain our dignity and our homes when you people continue to come up with ideas that hurt the elderly, lower income citizens, and people on fixed incomes. These two taxes/fees will hurt those in a lower income bracket, but apparently, you only care about us when it's time to ask for our vote.
I always knew the Democrat-led legislature was all about raising taxes and fees, but this so-called Republican Governor is the biggest phony I have ever seen. Perhaps, like so many other Massachusetts politicians, he believes his press clippings, and thinks he could run for President down the road, like his fellow former liberal Governor Devol Patrick. Why not run right now, Charlie Baker? Get the hell out of office you liberal POS!
