TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

It is critical that we decarbonize transportation as quickly as possible as a state, region, nation and world. Please pass the Transportation and Climate Initiative for Vermont and the region! In rural areas people depend on their cars. I have been fortunate to drive an electric car for the last couple of years and will never go back. A small tax on gas when prices are low is a small price to pay to make progress on decarbonizing transportation and providing more public transportation options for all.

My husband walks a mile rain or shine to ride the bus to work in Hartford. The public transportation system is critical to him. However, since moving to CT, he has a cough which he attributes to low air quality. When I travel to Washington DC I use bus transportation. It is efficient and cost effective. We do have a hybrid gas/electric vehicle which we charge at the charging station in front of our
town hall. My family requests Gov Lamont formally join the TCI Initiative and pursue aggressive greenhouse gas emissions reductions so
air quality in our cities (for our school children and others like my husband) will improve and the transportation sector will support
individuals like us seeking to transition to electric vehicles and public transport. We appreciate Gov Lamont's leadership.

I care about reducing pollution from transportation, which is our largest source of global warming emissions (regionally and nationally).

The US lags far behind other advanced industrial democracies in public transportation.

I request that New Hampshire formally join the plan to reduce emissions.

The policy should have a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access.

I express gratitude for the bipartisan nature of this project, moving us forward while the federal government takes us backward.

I prefer to take public transport when possible, and climate change is my most pressing concern. I am fully in favor of planning and developing a low- or no-carbon transportation system to mitigate climate change and to make travel a reasonable moral choice.

I have seen maps of the old trolley system that linked every little town in Maine with every other little town. Brilliant! If GM and other companies invested in fossil fuels hadn't taken it upon themselves to eradicate those trolley public transportation systems with the advent of the personal-use automobile, we would be far better off today. If the Koch brothers wren't actively undermining public transportation across the country we'd be far better off.
We need to revitalize our suburbs and rural towns with affordable, clean, renewably sourced public transportation now!
For commuters, students, the elderly, tourists, and everybody else!

Non-Profits, NGO’s, Trusts, & Foundations use “philanthropy” to secure political clout through campaign donations, & public policy through advocacy groups like the Conservation Law Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, and VPIRG, who receive significant support from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. TCI’s core funding comes from the same Rockefeller philanthropy, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which is directly behind TCI, RGGI, in fact all the anti-carbon policy we are seeing in Vermont. The Manufactured Climate Crisis, the War on Fossil Fuels, the Climate Change Agenda, & the Monetization of Carbon are driven by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Rockefeller Family Fund, and Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. Wealthy Elites have pre-positioned their investments in carbon trading, carbon sequestration, railroads, & natural gas, while betting against coal & oil. TCI is the unconstitutional picking of winners & losers, inefficient Government Redistribution of Wealth, and Economic Death for the Working People of Vermont. Instead, we need to clear out the leeches who hold public office for self- emolument, & tax these “philanthropic” Foundations, Trusts, NGO's, & Non-Profits into the stone age, instead of adopting a punitive Interstate program designed to force compliance with standards that will have a dubious effect on the Earth's Climate on a Global Scale.

I support TCI because, as an asthmatic, I find it important to reduce tailpipe emissions, which contribute to asthma and other health problems. In addition, I feel that it is important to reduce emissions of greenhouse emissions from all sources, including the important transportation sector, to mitigate climate change.

I strongly support the Transportation and Climate Initiative. The transportation sector accounts for a third of all carbon emissions so we must make changes to this sector to avert the worst of the climate crisis. We need a plan that holds large transportation polluters accountable for the pollution they create and invests in clean transportation solutions including:

- More public transit and electric vehicle infrastructure in rural areas,
- Expansion of commuter rail, electric vehicles, and streets in the suburbs that are safe, walkable, and bikeable,
- Sustainable and equitable housing near transit and electric bus fleets in urban communities.
