TCI Regional Policy Design Stakeholder Submissions

Dear Governor Wolf,
My husband and I are thrilled that you're considering joining 11 other states to form a regional initiative, the Transportation and Climate Initiative. The truth is, we don't have that much time before climate change overtakes us. The oil and gas emissions are not only building up rapidly in our sky but also in our lungs. Reducing pollution from all motor vehicles, including the whole range of trucks, is one of the best ways to reduce Pennsylvania's and the Northeast's pollution. Our bus system here in State College uses propane, which is a gas, but I don't smell or see any emissions. That doesn't mean there are none. We have no time to lose. Please make TCI a priority and work as quickly as possible to reduce the impact of carbon pollution.
P.S. Any idea or plans for banning "Fracking" altogether?

I support the Transportation and Climate Initiative states efforts to design a regional low carbon transportation policy to reduce and cap carbon emissions from the combustion of transportation fuels through a cap and invest or other pricing mechanism. This should happen in one year and then the policy could be offered for adoption by each of the nine states in the initiative.

We need to expand public transportation to combat climate change and use less cars.

Please keep your cash grabbing self promoting ideas to yourselves. To raise my taxes without any legislative representation is akin to how the American Revolution started. You have apparently deemed yourselves smarter and more compassionate about the environment than those you wish to force to pay for your nonsense. Even if enacted, the impact would be minuscule, yet the impact on the taxpayer, business owner and driver would be monumental. Perhaps you don't mind paying more at the pumps, or in stores for merchandise and services but I for one do mind. All of this in the name on making yourselves feel better? That you have done something good for the environment? It all comes at the expense of our freedom and basic representation and is not a price I'm willing to pay.

I support all efforts to improve fuel efficiency and reduce Maine’s carbon footprint. Such as all electric vehicles and recharging stations. I would like to hear more ideas about how to do this in rural areas besides carpooling which is often hard to do. Donna

We desperately need to modernize our public transportation in a clean and efficient manner and this proposal would do exactly that. Currently, our system is an embarrassment in that it is extremely overcrowded and constantly plagued with delays, equipment problems, vehicles that should have been retired decades ago, and over-reliance on expensive, dirty, obsolete, and taxpayer-subsidized fossil fuels. This proposal would fix many of these problems and thus should be implemented ASAP. Not only would the proposal create jobs, but it would also create a cleaner, more stress-free environment for us all -- in short, a system we could be proud of.

As a bit of a side note, it is extremely suspicious that many of the disapproving comments that are flooding this proposal appear to be generated by automated bots impersonating real people. One can only wonder who is behind this activity, but the fact that the fossil fuel companies are flush with cash and have repeatedly demonstrated a contempt for our democracy and the needs of local communities, as well as a willingness to corrupt the political and regulatory processes, points to an obvious culprit.
