Look at that fat slob Al Gore flying around the world on his private jet telling us how we should conserve on energy . Carbon Dioxide is what plants need to produce oxygen (DAAH) . The weather is cyclical ,all you have to do is go back over the last hundred years and look . LIBTARDS only look back thirty years . I guess it's to hard for them to look further .

This move by Governor Wolf is a bold and timely move and comes at a time when it is of the utmost importance to take the necessary steps to reduce and eventually overcome human-caused climate change. Governor Wolf's very wise decision to join this initiative will aid in the reduction of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and also help to improve air quality. I also ask Governor Wolf to please end fracking here in the Keystone State and also to stop the construction of new oil and gas pipeline projects in our state and to transition to renewable and nonpolluting forms of energy--particularly solar power. |

On behalf of the citizens of Sherman, many who travel long distances for employment, I oppose this Initiative. Enactment of this Initiative would be a hardship for rural Maine.
We do not have readily available transportation alternatives. Many of the working class are employed by the woods industry. They have to travel to their place of work daily. Are you aware of the distance that these folks travel for employment?
In our community we also have a significant number of elderly citizens who must travel to Bangor for medical treatment. It is 85 miles one way for them to have access to medical care.
In addition to the previous concerns that I have mentioned, think about the increased transportation cost to transport goods & services that we all need. How would the people of our State afford to live in the rural areas? Proposals such as this Initiative make me think about the Native Americans & the Trail of Tears - feels much the same for rural Mainers that have lived here their entire lives. Just another way to force us all out of our small hometowns.
Thank you,
Debra J. O'Roak

Reducing emissions in the transportation sector is critical to achieving climate goals previously established in Vermont. Revenues raised from the cap and invest program can be used to help residents access more efficient forms of transportation.TCI is modeled on the very successful RGGI cap and invest program. Regional solutions to transportation pollution will be more effective. The TCI will help to create energy jobs in Vermont. |

We VTers need better access to commercial bus-lines, rail (e.g., Montrealer, etc.), and airlines. There needs to be transportation to Burlington and Montpelier (the East side of the state is woefully neglected). How about bus lines, etc. accepting debit/credit cards instead of change? How about interstate transportation (e.g., St. Johnsbury to Littleton, Hanover, Lebanon, NH). In France they have a rapid/quiet train system which rides on opposing magnetic fields -- this would be a wonderful update for some of the U.S. rail systems (esp. the Montrealer). |

A cap on carbon emissions of at least 25% by 2032
An increase in the minimum investment in overburdened and underserved communities (>35%)
Request that investments be put towards active transportation like better sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, and high quality public transit
According to a recently released study by Harvard and other institutions, if the program is designed appropriately, up to 1,100 lives can be saved annually, and the region could see $11 billion in health benefits each year. |

Vermont is bound by law to significantly reduce carbon and increase renewable energy sources. Many critics of carbon reduction proposals have argued that the small state of Vermont cannot do it alone. TCI provides a prime opportunity to take a regional approach to carbon pollution reduction. And it has the data of a similar and very successful RGGI program to back it up. Of course, Vermont needs to do this and much more. We need a suite of complementary policies to help us meet our legal obligation, but TCI is an opportunity that we cannot pass up. In planning the TCI program I hope that you consider these 3 priorities in your design:
1. Prioritize equity so that low income Vermonters without access to public transportation are the primary beneficiaries of low carbon transportation options.
2.Polluters, including fossil fuel companies should pay the real costs for the environmental and health consequences of their product.
3. Start the cap low and drop it rapidly. Vermont is way behind in our obligation to meet the reduced carbon goals, and we need an aggressive approach to get back on track.
Thanks for listening!

First, reducing pollution from transportation is a key component to reducing Pennsylvania's emissions. There are numerous benefits to Pennsylvania and the entire Northeastern United States in cutting emissions and the subsequent formation of toxic greenhouse gases; public transit investments that could be made with TCI proceeds would be valuable and could be reinvested to develop further climate saving, greenhouse gas reducing programs throughout the region, protecting our children and the elderly from the choking greenhouse gases that have been linked to increased rates of respiratory disease, have been shown to affect the birth weight and overall fetal health in our region and darken skies with clouds of smog that are brimming full of dangerous chemicals that collect on our skin, in our hair, contaminate our fresh water supply and adversely affect the health of livestock grown for human consumption in the region.
I ask, that as the leaders responsible for effecting change, you choose the aggressive greenhouse gas reduction target that the most recent climate science tells us we need. I also urge you to adopt policy that prioritizes clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don’t have access to transportation choices.
The time to act is now! I’d like to point out that change has been a long time in coming, and it takes progressive, forward-thinking policy makers that agree with the urgency of the situation and are bold enough to perhaps step outside of their comfort zones in order to make meaningful change possible. |

The largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Vermont is the transportation sector. The increasingly evident negative affects of climate change highlight an urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Vermont would benefit from being a part of the TCI to encourage a reduction in carbon emissions from transportation. Proceeds from the TCI would benefit low and moderate income Vermonters and help incentivize public transportation and electric vehicles. As an EV owner, I am aware of the many benefits of EVs, including less vehicle maintenance, no smelly trips to the gas pump, and less expensive operating costs. I would like more Vermonters to have access to EVs. |
