Reducing transportation pollution, which is our largest source of global warming emissions, is in everyone's best interest. We are already suffering from the harms of global warming, including more severe storms, drought, wildfires and temperature extremes which have resulted in many deaths, great destruction and financial cost. I commend governor Cuomo, the New York State legislature, and all of the activists for the CLCPA law signed last year to combat this problem. I encourage governor Cuomo to continue his strong leadership on this issue and formally commit New York to join the plan to reduce emissions. Please prioritize clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. Thank you for reading my comments.	-

The imposition of such a cap-and-invest system would only raise costs to consumers and accomplish nothing to mitigate or moderate whatever future climate trends are measured or whatever future weather events occur in our region. New York's population is already declining, so this restrictive plan seems likely to accelerate that trend as other regions and states avoid similar misguided ideas. I therefore strongly oppose the adoption of the elements of this most unwise plan.	-

We need a plan that holds large transportation companies accountable for the pollution they create and invest in clean transportation solutions such as an expanded and efficient public transit and EV infrastructure in rural and suburban areas, expansion of commuter rail, EVs, bike lanes, and sidewalks to make it safe for commuters, pedestrians, and bikers, and electric bus fleets infrastructure.	-

Further, the existing charging stations are often in disrepair. Without working charging stations, people will never get out of their gas guzzlers. Next, affordable mass transit should be broadened, and where it exists, the service could be better. Give people an option to get out of their cars. CT does need to charge tolls on major highways just like most other states in the Northeast--mid-Atlantic region.	-

The fact that transportation is a necessity for most people also means that taxation does nothing to curb this activity. My household of 3 voters believes TCI provides a bold path forward for reducing climate pollution in the transportation sector and spurring investment in public transportation and other much-needed transportation infrastructure. Climate change has become our most important political/social/spiritual action and should be bipartisan.	-
