This democratic run legislature thinks nothing of adding to the tax burden on the citizens of this state. How about finding ways to save money for the taxpayers? Ya’ know, sharpen the pencils. This is a bad idea that will hopefully affect your political aspirations. Then again, I am a Republican who voted Scott Brown and Geoff Diehl and has no desire to see any of you re-elected anyway. All I know is , there are ways to raise the money you so desperately crave, without stepping on us even harder. So pissed. Anybody can get elected and raise taxes. Make what you get from us work. Spend some time on the job. |

Shouldn't everyone care about reducing pollution from transportation? This is the largest source of global warming emissions, both regionally and nationally. The Susquehanna Valley's air quality is below what we should expect, and FAR below what it should really be.
I hope that Pennsylvania formally joins the plan to reduce emissions and with the state government's full backing and support. It's my hope that the policy includes a strong component of equity by prioritizing clean investments in areas overburdened by pollution and/or for those who don't have access. I'm grateful for the bipartisan nature of this project, and have sincere belief that this will move us forward, even while the federal government takes us backward.

As such, any money raised through fees or taxes should be rebated directly to working class members or used to implement free public transit system repairs, electric car fuel infrastructure, new transit system implementation and subsidies for purchasing electric cars.
The funding could also help transition the operation of refining facilities and renewable generation as well as investment in public or common ownership of sustainable products and high-tech innovation. Alongside sustainable infrastructure development and building retrofits, we should be developing a low-carbon economy that features social care, high-speed public or social broadband, and remote-work initiatives.
At the heart of the project has to be an understanding that taxes or fees are not only inefficient means of driving innovation and development but can harm some of the most vulnerable. As such, we should move forward while acknowledging the reality of inequality and oligarchy control that have sparked riots and collective action in response to fossil fuel price and subsidy rises from Ecuador to France. |

Since college I have lived in Philadelphia where transportation is plentiful and a car is a luxury and an unnecessary expense. Growing up in rural area I appreciate nature and do not like seeing it degraded by pollution.
Now that the Oil refinery in South Philadelphia is gone we need to think in terms of alternative fuels. I owned a car for less than ten years and got rid of it in 1976. I do not miss it. I walk, ride a bike and SEPTA wherever I need to go. I once worked to limit car use in Delaware under Clinton's ISTEA law. It should still be in effect today. |
