We need to fix our crumbling infrastructure, promote use of clean electric vehicles, upgrade our public infrastructure, reduce traffic congestion and clean the air of transportation-related pollution. I have lost employees who moved from (or would not commute through) Northern Virginia due to the terrible traffic. And there are no good EV charging options at or near where I live and work. I firmly believe that we have the will and the transportation solutions in hand. All we need now is the cap-and-invest proceeds to get the job done! I may be forced to move from Virginia if steps are not taken to fix our broken and dirty transportation system.	-

I have grown up with the climate crisis, watched as small steps towards sustainable planning practices and policies in our cities and regions have been taken while the much bigger sources of our pollution problems persist. The TCI is a positive step towards tackling those bigger problems. I understand that there are people who's financial situations may be negatively affected by this policy, especially those in poorer rural areas and/or those who drive to make a living. However, difficult as it may be, we as a region need to start accepting new ways of living in order to reduce GHG emissions that are harming our ecosystems and the health of vulnerable populations. The projections of the TCI have shown a reduction in pollution and illness and an increase in clean transportation options that will ultimately improve the lives of the people in this region. I would like to be able to breathe clean air in Massachusetts for generations to come. This initiative is a promising step towards that future.	-

If we can’t dramatically reduce the amount of pollution from our transportation industry, we will be in even worse shape regarding Climate Change. Please take the need to dramatically reduce CO2 levels seriously and use this initiative to get us to Net Zero in the Transportation Sector by 2030. Please prioritize our State’s “environmental justice” neighborhoods because with this issue, as usual, those contributing the least to the problem are impacted the most- in this case, we need public transportation that is clean and renewable.	-

I look at California's current situation with $5 + gas prices which doesn't just effect business but private citizens as well. This is another detrimental effect on our economy costing all businesses to suffer and subsequently leave Maine. Small business can't afford additional costs to operate and end up passing it on to their customers or going out of business. Our rural state is not a good fit for this kind of plan.	-

A little over a decade ago, I agreed with those Democrats. Since then, I have learned a lot and changed my mind. I have become convinced that the world's climate-crisis CANNOT be solved by phasing out nuclear reactors and moving to mainly “renewables”. But, I am all for phasing out fossil fuels ASAP. There have been many days... read more It is vital that our transportation policies reflect the reality of our world. The transportation sector is a major contributor to climate change and to air pollution. There have been many days in southwestern Pennsylvania in the past few weeks with air quality alerts, and vehicles are a significant contributor to that problem. We owe it to our residents in Pennsylvania to solve these problems by taking action on transportation infrastructure and on transportation policies. I, for instance, intend my next vehicle to be a plug-in electric car (I currently drive a hybrid). But, I do worry about the infrastructure that would make that choice easier. Charging stations are few and far between in Pennsylvania. Long distance travel is a problem! I have solar panels on my house, but the electric grid generally in Pennsylvania needs to move faster toward renewable sources and away from fossil fuel generation of electricity so that charging an electric vehicle truly is a environmentally better choice no matter where it is charged. And finally, we need to move away from fuel taxes as the major source of funds for the transportation sector. As electric vehicles become more common (and they will!), revenues from other sources will be needed to support our transportation system. Let's move forward with intention by planning for a new, clean transportation system in Pennsylvania.	-

It’s also of critical importance that the investment component takes equity into account and serves underserved and low income communities most impacted. Lastly, it’s a great example of bipartisanship and getting things done across party lines- let’s do this!	-

By limiting the amount people will drive you are affecting an entire industry and workforce on the available cars to work on after the industry has already sustained raising workforce costs. We as an industry cannot sustain being attacked on both angles by our own government who is supposed to help foster small business instead of kill it. I voted for a Republican Governor in my state to help protect me from these issues.	-
